Most expensive one until you do something with the 7890xe...

Yes I know its not a "workstation" cpu, but somehow some will end up there.

Neither is Threadripper, if we're holding both to the same standards.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Because Intel's "Enthusiast" platform has always targeted workstation usage where ECC is not important but having core counts higher than mainstream is, as well as the lower price of an enthusiast chip compared to its Xeon counterpart, bar the stupid 6950X pricing.

Same with Threadripper.

I think Linus made one mistake. Underneath the M.2 cover is thermal pads that are protected by plastic. He (or James) needed to remove the strip after installing the drive. Easy to miss if you've never seen it before.

BTW James... nice hand model. :)

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

Threadripper does support ECC

Can Anybody Link A Virtual Machine while I go download some RAM?

Threadripper's compatibility with ECC is not absolute, the use of ECC is not officially supported, and it is not validated.

Mighty awkward for them to put it on their QVL and as a feature of the motherboard then....

AMD has no issues with the mainboard manufacturers validating *SOME* ECC kits for those specific boards, since AMD does not lock the functionality artificially. But AMD also owes no one anything should they:

A) Use ECC not listed as compatible with the mainboard of their choice

B) They do use compatible ECC, as per mainboard compatibility list, and it fails

But it's not a platform wide supported feature.

Does anyone know what song they're using in the background at the beginning? (Right after the intro cinematic of the case)

1TB of RAM is useful to have, especially considering that it provides enough space for a RAM disk for game installs.

Since many RAM disk applications allow you to have startup scripts where they will automatically copy data to it after booting, you can set a game install folder be set to automatically copy over to the RAM disk on bootup. This kind of setup, paired with a fast SSD NVMe SSD, will allow for a pretty fast file transfer to the RAM disk.

This will all allow for you to deal with memory copy speeds when actually loading the game, this may shave a second or so off of the load times if lucky :).

Even with low end RAM, a RAM disk still offers much better performance than the current fastest NVMe.

Windows 10 has gotten easier to install, the only non-straightforward part is disabling as much of cortana as possible and getting rid of the bloatware from the Microsoft store that it installs automatically, and set the proper privacy settings.

Two things: 1) The correct torque setting is 1.6 newtons per meter. 2) The screwdriver clicks when it's at the right setting.

Is anyone else upset with the AIO cooler special after the "The BEST Cooling Solution - Air or Water - FINAL ANSWER" video. That ThreadRipper would be more "Mac relaxin all cool" with a Noctua. Yes this is a sponsored video by Cooler Master but just an acknowledgment saying that an AIO meant for TR4 would be better would have made me happy. Also it feels like he is saying Air cooling is not good enough for air cooling which was also proven wrong in the other video.

One major issue with this build, why not two GTX 1080 ti? You certainly had the budget for it.;)
