First smartphone I bought was a Sony Xperia Play for about $800 outright from Rogers. At the time that was about 2 months worth of paychecks and I ended up returning it after about a week.

First smartphone I owned long term was a HTC Evo 3D. I think it was about $700 or $650 outright. Lasted me about two years until it finally died on me. The "3D" was cool for a few days, but I only ever used it to show off to friends and coworkers.

I was heavy into gimmicks backs then lol..

wow... sorry to hear that...

As far as anything resembling a modern smartphone, my first one would be a hand-me-down LG Optimus 2X. I later installed Cyanogenmod with the Trinity Kernel and over clocked the Tegra 2 CPUs from 1 GHz to 1.5 GHz. The thing would eat battery life like no tomorrow sometimes though. Actually, my Le Pro 3 was the first brand new smartphone I've gotten since my Blackberry Pearl Flip, the above and my G2 being bought used as well.

I bricked mine when installing Gapps, though thankfully I was still able to get into fast boot and flash another file to get it to boot again. Was nerve racking to say the least.

Mine already gave me a lot of trouble  before I brick it... so I didn't mind to throw it away....

HTC 7

Still have it and it still works.

I put it off for as long as I could, until my Motorola RAZR  V3 with the Dragon Tattoo broke.. I loved that phone.

My memory is pretty shoddy, so I can't even begin to remember the years in which I had my first phone. It was between 2000 and 2006, and I want to say it was a non-flip Sanyo phone offered by Bell. However, in my limited Google search, I can't seem to find it, so perhaps I was mistaken.

As for the first phone that I personally purchased, it was 2006 when the Blackberry Pearl came out.

I was rocking the JASJAM for quite a while, then the coverage became an issue and ended up back on a Nokia (6120 Classic). First really smartphone I got was the iPhone 3GS when it launched in Australia.

I kinda miss the slide out keyboard...

My first phone was a Samsung flip phone, but my first smartphone was a HTC Radar running Windows 7. Then I got a Microsoft Lumia 540, and that broke on monday, so I am getting an iPhone 6 now. I have had enough with windows. The app support is trash and that platform is dead. I want something new!!!

hi.
