@NumLock21 compute cards have no need for SLI fingers

To be fair, Titan's have not been compute cards since Kepler, lol. Glad to see the Titan name mean something again.

On that note, may I ask why you opted for a vanilla i7 7700 over the 7700k, yet saw reason to splurge on a Titan X over the 980ti?

Pritorities.. people won't mind the 7700, but a TITANX vs a 980Ti is a bigger dick.

Because this system was put together this early february, it was the cheapest possible highest end I could make with my budget at the time, cheapest motherboard with the locked i7 was until the ryzen 1600 come around the best cost-to-performance possible.

The TITAN XM was bought second hand for the price of a GTX 1060 6gb back then from someone who was going to sidegrade from TITAN XM SLI to GTX 1080 SLI.

Well, it's partially a joke, and partially true. It depend in when one gets the card, and for what reason.

Getting it just to play Minecraft, you're an idiot.

Getting one to max out games at higher resolutions is a valid reason to get one. Provided you got the pascal Titan X prior to the release of the 1080Ti.

Getting one for CUDA accelerated tasks is another valid reason to get one as well.

Already explained, if you search used market long enough you can get great deals, the Titan XM was cheaper than the cheapest 1070 for (after overclock and it does have golden silicon) 1080 stock performance.

If its confirmed with NVLINK for conusmers/gamers etc. New motherboards needed, maybe EVEN new CPU, new ram, then the new GPU. :(

Only time with tell. Personally i still think that consumers versions will not come with NVLINK got no evidence of this just my gut feeling.

That's only true for the mezzanine connector as it uses traces in the boards to communicate with each other vs a bridge.

PCI cards do not necessarily need the boards to have any special chipset as they use a dedicated connector for communication between cards.
