Haswell to Skylake upgrade worth it?

Title says it all. Would it be worth to upgrade my current rig to a similarly leveled skylake gen DDR4 rig??

 

Current Rig:

Intel Core i5 4590

Gigabyte B85m Gaming 3

12gb DDR3 1600mhz

 

(To potentially)

Intel Core i5 6500

MSI B150 Bazooka

8GB DDR4 2133mhz

 

I currently also have a GTX 950 Strix OC 2gb. (Planning to swap out a 1060 when prices get low)

Nooo not worth it, at all.

If you want to upgrade for gaming get a better gpu, 1060 is a decent upgrade.

If you really really really want to upgrade your cpu, sell the i5 you have and get a i7 4790 or something.

no. right now for someone going for a cheep build I would say get on haswell because it is cheaper and you don't lose much

Thank you for your inputs! I actually was just speculating on the current gen because I thought the performance difference would be as significant as I thought. I think a 1060 upgrade would definitely be feasible in the next few months. (Black Friday sales galore)

Unless you're wanting to go up a step in the i scale, no. Even then, a 4790K is damn near as good as a 6700K, and you wouldn't need a new mobo and RAM.

cpu and gpu performance jump per generation are very different, and EVEN with gpu it is hardly worth it upgrading the same tier in only 1 gen (example: upgrading from a 750 to a 950 is not a very good choice).

when talking about cpus, the gap is even bigger (i still have an i7 2600k and the i7 6700k doesnt seen like THAT good of an upgrade)
