Nvidia is evil?

Edit:  Alright, evil is not the correct word here.  But there are issues with Gameworks you should know about

Saw this video today.  It's a bit long, but watch the whole thing, definitely worth your time.

I think we need AMD in the race now more than ever...  Been using Nvidia for a while, I will most likely go AMD for my 2016 GPU upgrade.

Well hey when I develop games, Nvidia will only get little attention with their technologies (I plan on using Nvidia VXAO and Nvidia VXGI). The "HairWorks" part will only come AMD's TressFX for the best hair quality and realism with little resources consumed.

I can give the video a whirl, but to call Nvidia evil is to dilute the meaning of the word, "evil". I'd reserve that for things like serial killers.

Yep, kind of kills the idea of Nvidia being evil xD

I've been digging on why the performance tanked. Well, I know where the performance tanks, and I think I know why. A fix is tricky. It's not shadows.

One of the leading idea's and I haven't tested this is the Weapons effects setting being the cause. I thought that was crazy because that effect isn't in use when I lose fps, but Nvidia themselves say to have it off. They don't come out and say it causes a problem, but why tell your customers that to "optimize" the game, the feature you installed needs to be off? fishy

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Do you use a Shield? If so and you lost audio, use the GFE beta. Fixed it for me.

Its funny because back in the day, PC gamers wanted better graphics and more eyecandy and effects. Now PC gamers are complaining it reduces their performance too much. Isn't the entire point of PC gaming to have options? Turn stuff on and off depending on what you prefer?

I know plenty of people use gameworks and enjoy it

Then theres the people who complain about fps because they dont seem to understand what "optional" means

Then there's the AMD fanboys who go around making videos complaining about stuff they dont even want to use in the first place

Seriously, what's wrong with PC gamers, its as if there always needs to be something to complain about whether it matters or not

Most sensible people are not just complaining about new tech they can't run, but about the costs of running them.

Nvidia's current motto is to tie every tech they come up with to tessellation since that is what Maxwell excels at, even for things that don't make sense. I never thought I'd see the day when we started tessellating light. How do you tessellate something that doesn't have polygons? Alice: Madness Returns, Lichdom: Battlemage, Tomb Raider 2013 and ROTTR are proof that you don't need tessellation to do good hair. Turning on PureHair is only about a 4 fps hit and you get a nice touch of Maybelline.

Do you need a $200 module to remove screen tearing? Their own GSync laptops say no. AMD doing FreeSync over displayport, HDMI later this year, and now getting FreeSync laptops later this year say no. VESA has accepted this standard and it will now be "free" on upcoming monitors as AdaptiveSync so even Intel can use it.

@CostcoSamples Most corporations are "evil." The reason AMD can't afford to do the things Nvidia is doing now is because they're behind. If the roles were switched, AMD would probably be doing the same shit Nvidia is doing  now, and I'd probably be cheering on Nvidia instead.

It does mean that initial benchmarks turned people away from amd. Big reason for you to move from 390 + 290 cf to 980ti

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

well gsync is better than freesync, so having proprietary hardware seems like its actually a benefit

and i dont have a gsync or freesync monitor, im quoting linus who has actually compared them side by side

he even did a test on the input lag of each a while ago

Yes they do, and in Fallout 4 without a standardized benchmark that performance is easily manipulated. Hell, even the time of day dramatically impacts fps.

I'm confirming that the 1.3 update hurt performance in Fallout 4. Early morning is the time most effected when our in the wastes around a lot of trees. But to jump at the benchmarks of a game without a standard test like a cat after a laser pointer is a bit foolish, wouldn't you agree? Take this video, or the ROTTR video from DF. Pick and choose what parts of the game to test based off which card performs well, and you have the result in the video.

No standardized test, total Bull Shit. Go off your performance or a video using a good methodology.
