So I used to play a few sims when I was a younger lad but fell out of favor for a bit due to a few reasons (1 big one being my Fanatec wheel didn't work for the XB1, I lost my copy of GT for PS3, and another being that I had a cruddy PC that couldn't run games) so the wheel has been collecting dust the last few years or so.

That being said, I had a hankering recently and since I have a better PC now, I decided to get the wheel all set up for PC use. I honestly wish I was on PC sooner. I picked up PCars 2 on sale last weekend and I'm hooked. The road feel and vibrations through the wheel is really nice and I haven't had this much fun in a while. Ended up tweaking my Samsung GearVR as well to use as a VR helmet cam. Gotta tweak the headtracking a bit but it's definitely a fun experience! Probably gonna grab Assetto Corsa next.

Think I might get a new shifter though. The CSR wheel is decent and the Clubsport pedals I have are great but my shifter is still the stock one that came with the CSR and it's not great and getting worn out! xD

Assetto Corsa is a must imo :D

would recommend Dirt 4 for your offroading needs but i would say its not as SIM like ...

The TH8A shifter is on sale atm if you buy from the US. 98 USD or 125 CAD (it's 150 CAD locally), buy something else to get free shipping over 150.

That was something I was considering but IIRC with Fanatec wheels, you'd need an adapter for that shifter to work with the CSR outside of PC use which isn't the most ideal. That being said, the Clubsport Shifters are stupid expensive so it might still be cheaper to go the TH8A route! :P

TH8A plugs into a USB port IIRC

Yeah I know that but otherwise it uses an RJ45 which the fanatec doesnt use so I could use it on PC fine but not on other platforms unless they can use the USBs on those? If thats the case, Im in!

well, yeah if you want to use it for PS or Xbox then you need to use it trough a thrustmaster wheel compatible with said console

PC ftw :P:D

also it uses what they call a DIN connector for the wheels ... IIRC its like the PS2 connector and socket that was used for mice and keyboards

EDIT: wait nvm ... apperently for PS3 you can use it as a secondary controller with just the USB

should start at 7:55 if it doesnt .. then skip to that

Hoo-boy!!! The crossover event with PRD and RSR this past Sunday was a good one. :) Good for the LMP900 class, that is. Apparently there was a MASSIVE wreck involving about half the GTE field, right off the start!

As we stormed off in the LMP class, I heard a few guys over teamspeak saying "woah" and all that, talking something about an incident, but when you're super-focused on the task at hand (and not crashing yourself), you tend to tune other stuff out, lol. I knew there had been an "incident", but I had no idea it was THAT bad until yesterday when the other drivers posted up their replays and recorded footage. And the footage speaks for itself. :o Dayum. Looked like "the big one" as they say, in NASCAR races.

What we think happened is when one driver slept a little on the call of the start (maybe didn't hear it), it forced some drivers to check up, while others simply went around making it 4-wide as they hit the first "kink" just before the start/finish line. One of the Ferrari's got pinched towards the grass and nudged the car beside it towards the outside and into the card beside them. The chain-reaction continued until there were basically 3 cars careening for the wall. After that, all hell broke lose, lol. xD

Here's the glorious footage from multiple angles and slowmo:

Another perspective from one of the GTE drivers using VR:

Another view:

Anyways, despite all that, the race went on. I had a decent start after qualifying 7th but then spun after locking my brakes to avoid colliding with cars ahead of me coming into the sharp turn 2 at the beginning of lap 2. That set me at the back of the LMP class. This was a 2 hours race, so it didn't bother me much. I just persisted on and put the hammer down. ;) After a few spins here and there and after being hit by another LMP after a spin just as I was due for my 2nd pit stop, I managed to still carry out multiple battles for position with a number of drivers in my class for many laps on end. All while navigating a sea of slower GTE's battling each other. Was a really fun and intense experience, to say the least. It's a relatively short track, so there wasn't much time spent running on my own. With about 40 minutes to go, I pitted for my final stint. I knew it would be stretching it to run the soft tires to the end, but P4 was in my sights and I had to try for it. With about 20 minutes to go, the car in P4, who was only about 10 seconds ahead of me, pitting in once more. I think he was honestly expecting me to do the same. Nope, I stayed out! :D The final 10 minutes was extremely tense. I had no tires left, yet had to maintain pace in order to stay far enough head of P5 who was slowly catching me on much fresher tires. Kept my cool, stayed focused and made no mistakes to take home P4. :) Not only that, but I only had about 3L of fuel left, lol.

Will post up my race footage tomorrow for anyone interested.

Finally got it uploaded today, the full 2 hours. (yay for crazy-fast internet at work, lol). :)

This was, by far, the most enjoyable crossover race we've done yet. Intense from start to finish and plenty of butt-puckering moments while navigating through the GTE's. ;)

So Finally got my Logitech G27 Ordered and grabbing it this weekend (got one a t a great price) Now I know its no where close to some of its competitors but I've had one before and It was really good for its price and I enjoyed it.

I was running it back then with a 27" single screen as well as a DK2, now the DK res was nowhere good enough for Pcars or Assetto but for Dirt Rally it was really enjoyable and great fun for friends. so going to go buy a bucket seat that'll I'll move into the Time attack car at a later date and got a spare dash I'll be cutting up and building the sim around and extend the Steering column off the G27.

My big question does anyone here have the New rift/Vive and would you say they are worth it? I'm going to look at doing triple 27" but at a much later date/space but for now will be using a 27" curved from work. Just keen to see what guys think.
