Box Box Box - Sim Racing Players Club [Now Hype Train Enabled!]

First practice race in PCars2 done. GTE at Texas oval road course. 20min quali followed by a 45 min main. Went well aside from my wheel messing up on me at lap 26 of 36. (Thanks again Logitech/SMS) Seems I STILL have to alt-tab out of the game after starting it to exit the Logitech profiler app or it will randomly double the steering ratio without warning. At least I know the fix exists, as silly as it is. lol

PCars2 really forces you to look after your tires. Once you start to push just a little too hard they get super slick and you have to take it easy for a couple laps to bring them back. Tire wear is OK though, I'm happy to see. Braking early and precisely each time is also greatly rewarded.

Raced the Ford GT LM and oh man, I love it! :D Fantastic straight line speed and quite agile in the twisties. Even with very little to no downforce.

Been thinking about changing my wheel setup. What's a good direct or belt-drive alternative to the G27 that won't break the bank? Would like to still have 3 pedals and an H shifter, but not absolute priority.

After playing and tweaking for hours trying to get the ffb dialed in with PC2, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not all that happy with the feel of the G27 as I used to be. It's mainly the gear drive that causes it to loose fine detail sensation with slight movements. I can feel each tooth on the gears and it doesn't feel as real as it once did. Could it be a little worn out? Maybe. It has seen a lot of use, but others I race with have seen far more and they don't seem to care. Maybe I'm being too picky or my standards are just ever climbing? I don't know.

But I think at this point, I'm going to start seriously looking into other wheels that aren't gear-driven. :/

Probably the TX/TMX bundle. The latter is the extreme budget option but its enough if you just want the belt system. You won't be getting into direct drive for less than $1200 CAD, but the thrustmaster ecosystem is pretty easy to break $800all in..

Honestly DD is the way to go if you can convince yourself to part with $1500 CAD (since you would need to buy pedals separate).

I'm a bit biased, but Fanatec should give you a higher experience at all levels. A CSW V2.5 is a well worth investment.

Not with our exchange rates that can get you a decent DD if you are getting V3 pedals in either case. Just depends how much you really need a shifter is all, and what style rim you can get.

Although I did forget the CSL Elite existed.

look at my, i use  T150 from thrustmaster with a Fanatec CSL LC pedal set .... its freaking great

the T150/TMX is mixed belt and gear system

T300/TX is a dual belt system

both come with the crappy 2 pedals and need the T3PA/ T3PA Pro to have 3 good pedals

shifter ... TH8A ...

the TS-PC and what ever the fuck the other ones are called seem to be great options as well but quite expensive

The Fanatec CSL base is quite a good option as well ... will end up being more expensive than a thrustmaster setup but might also be better cant say cause dont have any experience with them wheels

Silly, why would you be confused about the best naturally aspirated modern Ferrari they've ever made?

Unless you're concerned about the Aperta in which case the answer is simply "super limited edition bruv"

If you're ever down here you can visit Simulation1 and pay $30 for half hours seat time with their Accuforce V2 Pro / Heusinkveld Pro setup. The pedals are probably out of our price ranges but the DD wheel was great fun to play with. Alternatively its $30 for 1 hour on the T300RS.

They were both designed first and foremost for gamepad usage, proper FFB for wheels comes as an afterthought. GT Sport seems okay with a T-GT so far but I havent looked into any of the consumer wheels yet (which to be fair nearly all have come back as feeling worse on FM7)

And yes this is patch 2.0 for PC2 on PC and consoles. Nothing described in the patch notes other than "Improvements and enhancements"

A friend of mine play it with a G29 and he said the FFB is quite good and i saw him catch a few big slides in his livestream which usually indicate the FFB is there and probably good... maybe. :P I never expect Forza series to have a good FFB support tbh, not a fan of the game as well.

A few months ago, Doom had something like a 30GB update. 3.6 ain't bad. Thanks for mentioning this though. Need to make sure I get that installed before the practice session tonight. Thank goodness for Teamviewer. ;)

My family's first 'Windows' PC was back in '99 I think. It had 2 HDD's with combined capacity of 4.3GB. Now, game UPDATES are multiple times that. Oh, how times have changed. lol

Oh, how times have changed. lol

Meanwhile the Windows store is still okay with forcing users to download 95gb applications but not saving download progress, forcing you to redownload the entire package if theres a failure.

Man that remind me of my first PC. P2 333mhz, 16MB Ram and 2.1GB HDD with Window 3.11.

I don't know why the seller gave me Window 3.11 since Window 95 is very popular that time but because of that have I a habit of learning and use shortcut keys whenever i can instead of navigating with the mouse.

Done updating, going to the ring again for a few laps and then go to sleep.  :$

it's funny. I put linux on my younger sisters' chromebooks (like went through all the work even overwriting the bootloader and everything lol) just so they could play minecraft.

Actually expected them to be asking me tons of questions all the time and them breaking them.

nope. they haven't had a single issue. It just works every single day they use it whether it be for school or to play minecraft or some browser game or something. I had to initially show them how to login and stuff but once they got that... they've never complained to me about a single thing lol

lol.. It's perfect! I bet if they had windows they would of came to me with some issue by now haha
