SV 650 naked

Nice. If i were to get a road bike it'd be a Yammy R3, or some older Kawa or suzuki, like the mad max ones.

Nice bike, except for the headlight. Hideous thing, that is :P

I recently discovered that people do headlight conversions on the striples, to make 'em look like this:

I might actually test drive a striple this summer. Have heard many great things about its three-cylinder power house but I want to experience it myself...

Well, I already know that I'll probably miss the low-end torque. Right now I'm driving an XJR 1300. That has truck loads of torque starting from about 3500 rpm, with a relatively linear power delivery. The striple has a more high-end power characteristic which is fun to drive like a maniac, but less ideal in traffic/cruizing. But, I'll have to wait and see. Numbers and charts never tell the whole story.

EDIT: looked at the graphs again, and it seems the striple has a flatter torque curve than I recalled. This thing might actually be as good as people say :D

What? the street triple has tons of power down range, it has a very smooth linear power delivery, while they love to rev high for speed, there is tons of power at low revs, thats why the 3 cylinder design exists

And if you want torque like the XJR1300 then the Speed triples bigger engine has way more torque

yeah its one of those bikes that really just goes when you twist, as long as there is room in the gear you are in, pull it and fly

Yup. And that's exactly why I love the XJR as well. It really doesn't matter in what gear you're in. If you have rpm headroom it'll go and keep going :D even going as low as 2000 rpm, there's still ample torque. (although the grunt doesn't kick in until 3000-3500 rpm)

That said I love the engine on the SV.. V Twins go and sound amazing ;D lots of low end grunt, it lacks at the top end, but I ride around the streets and 40-60mph country roads so I dont need the top end,

I'm in the naked bike club too(note, I don't ride nude, too cold here)

But I don't have a full motorbike license...yet.

When I have the time and money I'm definitely getting a license and a bike.

Everything you said is wrong lol no offense.

Striple feels glorious exactly within that range from 3500-9K RPMs. Not much of a top end after first gear but it's still there. First gear is extremely tall and actually fantastic for cruising in traffic. I remember all the shifting I had to do on my FZ6R in traffic and this is nothing compared to that.

You'll see what I mean when you test ride it. Best usable urban naked out there IMO with a FZ07 being tied.
