Anyone with a GTX 780 do any 4k gaming with it?

Luxor

Quite obviously i have a GTX 780, and I just ordered a 4k monitor. I was just wondering how people's experiences have been while gaming in 4k, with a 780. I'm not expecting anything amazing when it comes to performance, but how has your experience been? I'd especially like to know how it has been in DayZ, and although not a graphics intense game, Civilization V, if any of you play them.

One card is not really enough. I mean sure you could drop everything to low but...if you're spending the money on the monitor you obviously care about graphics quality.

But it's great at 1080p and playable at 1440p

You should be able to run it at a good framerate if you're willing to compromise settings (as in having medium preset instead of ultra). AA is useless at 4k anyway so THAT's a weight off the gpu. i wouldn't worry if I were you, you won't get a worse experience than before anyway, in fact most of the time a higher resolution does more for you than any graphical setting.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Yhea , dayz is going to run at 10 fps on lowest setting at 4k . It's soooo badly optimized right now. Reminds me of Watch Dogs

No. Even medium is pretty rough at 4K.

Well, I assume. I speak from reference with trying SLI 770 4GBs and a 590D. I assume that the 770s do better than a single 780 by a decent margin.

For 4k you need at least two 780tis or 290s or 290xs or titan blacks

You will have to run at low settings to get over 60fps.

I got to borrow a friend's rig that had an ACX 780 for a few days a while ago. Had an Asus 4K monitor (don't know what model) at 60Hz and the only game I could find on that PC that could run at 4K maxed out and get a playable frame rate was Shift 2 Unleashed.

1) Why the bigger font?

2) Why the 4K monitor without at least another 780?

3) The 780 chuggs on alot of 1440p games, why would you expect it to play 4K?

Oh I heard Minesweeper in 4K gets good fps!

780ti in SLI performs pretty well at 4k (very close in performance to 290x CF), so I would assume the 3GB VRAM isn't too big a limitation. You should get another 780 when you have a chance, probably.
