linus1 is operating as collection server at the moment visibly.

So does that mean they are shifting their server to help ease in the collection of WU's?

It's been working as collection first, then assignment, then collection again - don't know if they're running tests, jsut changing it for video production purposes or just F@H decides which server should do what based on load. Which server does what has been changing a lot lately, so probably the latter either automatically or manually by people at F@H.

Well I suppose for the F@H team this is their best chance to test the limits of their infrastructure and software

Not in AWS, but I'm running two Azure VM's. One is compute optimized CPU, the other is "compute optimized" GPU with two old school Tesla K80. I'll soon be exchanging the CPU instance with another GPU instance.

It is expensive, but I have MSDN credits 😁
Azure spot prices sounds a lot like AWS spot instances. Cheap instances that'll be reallocated if the resource is needed elsewhere. I'm paying the full price though! No pay- as-you-go person should be able to steal my instances for the next 10 days.

I used to have MSDN credits from work, but I don't think i do anymore, sadly after changing jobs.

How much is full price for you? I could spare a few £ a day but I'm not up for 50p per hour.. thats like £12 a day.

Hi all..

Is 2.2 mill. points a day okay for a 6900k@4ghz and a RTX2080ti ?

What is this, constant WUs for the last 24 hours?! WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?!?!

I had all but given up and starting crunching Milky-way bars and only sporadically restarting FAH, and now I'm being flooded with a steady stream of WUs. Did the LTT server make all that difference? Or has there been a battalion of new servers setup to spin our power metres and warm our homes?

I'm only folding with my GTX 2080 ti on my gamin rig (I'm working from home and need the CPU) and I currently get 2.848.898 PPD, but it depends on available WUs, the complexity of the active WU (time it takes to complete) and wait times between uploads and downloads.

I see, so it's all servers on deck to spin the power metres as fast as possible cope with all the demand?

Let's hope those extra servers are enough to stave off any... supply and demand issues. We've had enough supply and demand problems in recent times as is.

Lets hope they will also get more sponsors due to this media attention right now...and soon hopefully a breakthrough in research that will pay off

Hmmm, A sponsor from any of the RGB trio would be nice, since they come with the added bonus of extra hardware.

Roughly £1.2 an hour for both instances... I wouldn't be paying all that with my own money! Especially not considering this is just 4 Tesla K80 GPU's. I need all four K80's to beat my single RTX 2080 ti! 😁

I just tried setting up a trial account with £150 free credits.  But It wont let me actually create any VMs!  What a farce.

Yes, with such an account you'd be limited with the kinds of VM's you can create. I have to contact Microsoft first to get access to the latest GPU instances, that's why I'm using the K80's.

Region is also a factor for what kind of VM's you can create, it's a puzzle!

im a coin miner and switched.  honestly they are not that great at folding, mining rigs are not set up for that.  Im running over 30 GPU's and still only get 4-5 mil PPD ish

Using GPUs for folding via risers is bad PPD wise. I'd recommend you to put at least one directly into the motherboard (if it has x16 slot), that will raise your PPD a bit since at least that GPU will not be bottlenecked. Also, if you have spare mobo/cpu combos, you can spread those GPUs over multiple systems.
