Fresh Razr leaks

A Dutch website has gotten hold of photos showing the soon the be announced motorola razr in less than two weeks time, showing it's foldable design. No sources to confirm its legitimacy however.

But why wait when there are leaked photos online?

On Thursday, Dutch tech site Mobielkopen and gadgets leaked Evan Blass got a hold of some images that supposedly show the new Motorola Razr, giving us a much better idea of what to expect on November 13. You can check out the photos on their website here.

Mobielkopen doesn't say where it got the images from, and there's no official confirmation the images are actually of the new Motorola phone. But it appears that the hinge in Motorola's event GIF and the leaked photos are identical, which lends some credence to Mobielkopen's images. 

Apart from its Razr-like design, little else is known about the device, and other details are left in the rumorsphere, which primarily originate from XDA-Developers.  If you wanted to abide by rumors, you could expect mid-range specs from 4-6 GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 710 processor. It's also suggested that the new Razr will have a 6.2-inch OLED screen when unfolded, and a smaller display on the exterior, just like the original Razr.

Thoughts: As much as the visuals are appealing, the internal specs doesn't seem to be all that good, as someone that favors performance over form I don't think I will be even considering this phone at al in the coming months.

More companies attempting folding screens only helps the tech. Don't have high hopes this will be a best seller though

Cool phone, I don't think they should really give it the Razr name though..it'll most certainly be a thick bitch.

I'll only consider a folding phone once they get folding glass.

I prefer this form factor over the tablet style from the Fold. This is probably just a stepping stone for foldables but It's one in the right direction IMO.

As much as everyone is chuckling a bit about a "flip phone in 2019", I think the flip phone form factor with a touchscreen is going to sell pretty well. At least once the pricing is reasonable. For a lot of people, a flip phone that can use all of the apps is a good setup for them. The phone is a lot less bulky, you're using Bluetooth for a lot of things already (so a lot of phones are pocket ornaments for much of the day), and there's a lot you can do with a small notification screen on the front but it folds out to a full phone.

 

I think early gen will be to expensive, but I think this will be a staple mid-range form factor in the future.

Also OLED does use less power so maybe that's the justification? That or the form factor.

I didn't have my razr long because it was take out of my locker at school by the vice principal who kept it... but I had a lot of flip phones after that, and flip phones in general I never had the ribbons break, and didn't really see that happen to others much, and we all played with the flipping compulsively.

I liked sliders much more and I still miss a real keeb, but my only negative flip phone memory was this one I had that had no option to make it answer calls on open- cue me flipping the phone open, putting it on my ear, and full blast ringer right in my ear. That one survived me throwing it full force at someones head, barely missing, hitting a wall and exploding. Blew into pieces, but they all went back together.

The Razr was hella popular (at least where I live). So much so, my mom's company used to use them as company cellphones. They were lit af.

 

If these phones don't end up being hot garbage, I think a lot of people may switch to it. I say this because as phones get bigger, they also become more of a hassle to keep with you. A lot of people are wanting to go back to a simpler time when they didn't needlessly swipe around their phone (much like Linus talked about in his Samsung Fold video). I have medium to high hopes for this phone.

but it's all touch screen- and it looks awkward as hell to type on. With that big lip on the bottom, which direction you even hold it to type?

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I'd hate it personally, but I dont mind the idea of a phone that doesn't activate in my pocket all day (I like to have no pin or print)

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

I was so used to it, when I switched away I hated my new phone for awhile. Now I bet it would take some getting used to if I had to go back.

I've still never learned to type on a touch screen. All these years and I still never got used to it. I never understood where there were never slightly thicker options that had either a keyboard or bigger battery. There's a good portion of people that dont give a fuck if their phone is just slightly thicker, why do ALL models have to sacrifice for thinness? You can still have edge to edge screens on a phone thats 3mm thicker lol. Idgaf as long as it fits comfortably in my pocket, and new phones are too big for that anyway.

Agreed. I have a Pantech P5000. It calls and texts. That's it. Has a physical keyboard which makes typing feel more normal. I can type on touchscreens but I simply hate it. I hope physical keyboards start to make a comeback.

Don't care about the folding screen since it's just another point of failure and an overpriced feature which adds unecessary cost.

 

What I do care about is the notch and lack of a headphone jack.
