Speedbird got a reaction from rob-tech in AMD fTPM causing random stuttering.
Gigabyte just released AGESA 1.2.0.7 for my board, B550 Aorus Elite v2. An hour after updating I get the same stutter.

Here's another one, again in that same year (2002) and in the same business bank.
One morning I was alone in the IT lab at about 7:30 AM, when the phone rang.
I picked it up and on the other end there was this desperate employee begging for help.
Now, you have to consider that many employees still used floppy disks and nearly every PC in the company had floppy drives.
Him: "Please, can you help me? I'm desperate! I just turned the PC on and it won't boot! It says "non boot disk" or something like that..."
Me: "Oh, OK, you just have to check if..."
Him: "Seriously, I don't know what to do if the computer's not working! I have work to do!"
Me: "Yes but don't worry, it's easy, please check..."
Him: "You don't understand! I'm in trouble! You have to help..."
Me: "CHECK IF THERE'S A DISK IN THE FLOPPY DRIVE, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!"
A few seconds of silence followed and then...
Him: "IT WORKS! YOU'RE A F***IN GENIUS! I WOULDN'T HAVE MADE IT WITHOUT YOU! THANK YOU!!!"
Me: "Yeah... Have a good day!"

Oh Oh I have one!
I was trouble shooting a used graphics card I bought and needed to throw together an older Intel system. I dragged my i5 4590 ITX system from the basement and set it up, installed the card, grabbed a SSD, connected it to power and monitor, pressed the power button and....no post. Grabbed a speaker for the board, pressed the button and...BEEP BEEP BEEP. I google it, says memory error. Ah what now!? I turn around and look at the board. It's got no memory in it. I called myself a few things (including a bloomin onion), grabbed whatever RAM I had laying around, and got it together and booted.

Buy a phone line subscription, and get a modem.

Heres a couple a that trigger me so badly:
Someone refusing to get fiber installed to replace a DSL line for free.
Misspelling a provider their name even though it 3 letters KPN I've seen KNP several times
KPN's own router is called a EXPERIABOX on the forum of them I've seen several people call them EXPEDIABOX

Speedbird reacted to Just that Mario in Ordering from LTT store from EU - the extra tax added in checkout and required IOSS certificate
What do you mean? US also has tax on goods purchased, it just isn't in the original price, but added afterwards - hence the memes about americans doing math to know how much end cost will be?
I was taxed 20% during checkout and another 20% by local customs because LTT store fails to supply information that the tax has already been paid.

Don't defrag an SSD. Never.

Speedbird reacted to LIGISTX in VPN's and gaming
Never use a VPN while gaming if your trying to reduce lag. Your inducing a lot of hops you don't need.
The first place your data goes is always your ISP servers, thats your gateway out to the internet. No matter what software your using, the hardware is what dictates where its going. Data flows from your PC, to your switch/router -> modem -> ISP hardware -> more ISP hardware -> probs more ISP hardware -> out to the interwebz. If you use a VPN, there is an extra hop at the end that is to your VPN -> interwebz.

Speedbird got a reaction from TheCoder2019 in Verified Actual Datahoarders when?
Maybe once there's an actual shortage? Hard drives are available at the same prices as always here.

Speedbird reacted to porina in IBM says chip shortage could last two years
Shortages doesn't mean unavailable. Just that availability may not be general. Stock goes in, stock goes out. I manged to buy a 3070 from Scan earlier this year, and this week picked up a 3070 laptop. It does feel like allocation of gaming level GPUs may be going more towards pre-builts, so it isn't that gamers can't buy them, it's more limited to self builders and part upgraders.

This reminds me that whenever I say that I have 3 PCs (actual PCs, not monitors) they call me a spoiled child.
Little do they know that the PCs are:
either outdated and/or low-end laptops/netbooks that I got when they were replaced or something that I spent my hard-earned money on. -
Speedbird reacted to dean_5234 in What's a good budget Intel CPU for recording and gaming?
No idea what your budget is, Budget is very vague. Currently the best value CPU on the cheaper side is the 11400 from intel

You're more than correct about that - IIRC there was a study on 10 000 kids who played video games and none of them turned out to be violent. Why hasn't anybody heard of this? Because the media doesn't want us to.

And both companies have excellent online documentation and self support available. I can look up disassembly directions for a PC that's 25 years old if I need to and still get drivers for them too.

I beg to differ. OneDrive doesn't have any option to remove the download button when viewing a file other than Office files. Google Drive has one.
I'm sure Linus disagrees to this considering that they've complained a lot about Teams in multiple WAN show episodes

Speedbird got a reaction from Fatih19 in Advice for first build
That's about what they cost here as well. It's definitely higher than they should be, as are prices for just about any graphics card whatsoever. If you can wait for prices to go back to normal levels, which no one can say when, I would suggest waiting.

Speedbird reacted to emosun in Upgrading CPU, Mobo, and Ram. Should I do a fresh OS install?
uh no just because it works better now doesn't mean that the issue was "solved" . It's been shown a considerable amount of times that just moving the same disk between different configs can result in driver conflicts and its still a far better idea to just do a clean install.

Ask someone with the same chips. Or try higher latency, like 18,19,19,21,38 everything else auto, don't forget to set the ram voltage to 1.37-1.4.

unless you really need faster internet, then yea sure, but if your just doing casually office work or light gaming, it wouldn't make much of a different yet
