Advice for first build

GA89

Budget (including currency): Max 1000EUR

Country: Latvia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: It will be used for gaming, I will play any game I get my hands on basically. Most demanding, that come to mind are Arma 3 and EFT.

Other details: I have mouse, keyboard and monitor (AOC 27G2U/BK). Don't have any existing parts, because I am upgrading from laptop (Asus N550JK). Planning to buy at the end of this month or next month. Budget is for hardware and case excluding GPU for obvious reasons. I'm thinking about getting older GPU for now (any suggestions? Almost anything would be an upgrade from my laptops GTX 850M 😄 ) and getting a better one later, when I can find one for normal price.

I want as futureproof PC as possible staying as much under 1000EUR as possible. I did some research and made a part list. Would like advice on what I should save money on, what I should spend more on and what I should swap out. Here is a table I made with parts and links to online stores I plan to buy from. Any row with 2 entries is 2 variants, Prefered column shows variant I am thinking about going with.

I see no graphics card in the list. The integrated graphics on the 10700K are worse than your laptop's GTX 850M, so I see no point in using that. Or are you hoping to find a used graphics card?

Edit: misread post. For used graphics cards, look for a GTX 1080 Ti.

What would be ok price for used GTX 1080 TI? Did a quick search and found one for 650EUR, it seems high.

That's about what they cost here as well. It's definitely higher than they should be, as are prices for just about any graphics card whatsoever. If you can wait for prices to go back to normal levels, which no one can say when, I would suggest waiting.

Would it be stupid to get something like used GTX 1050TI for 150EUR until I can get better card?

Yeah, the GTX 1050 ti is a certain upgrade and is quite decent,it can run nearly all games, just not at a good resolution or framerate necessarily.

I think looking for a gtx 1080 ti is setting your expectations too high, maybe look for a RX 570,580-GTX 1060-GTX 970 if you can find for an affordable price.

Thanks for advice, I will look into it. Also thanks for suggestions for AMD, I have no experience with those, so no idea what to look at.

The RX 500 series card were often reccomended at the start of the chip shortage because they could have been found for much cheaper than their Nvidia counterparts.(ex: Rx 570 found at same price as gtx 1050 ti despite being nearly twice as powerful) but scalpers/normal people have caught onto that and now they are being sold for 300€ and up.

Although I have found and bought an offer for an Rx 580 for 120€ , so it is worth  looking for AMD cards after all.

Did a quick search and it seems I might be able to get used RX570 for 150EUR, will do some more searching later today.
