I remember back in the days of Core 2 Duo/Quad, everyone would just buy the cheapest Duo or Quad and overclock it instead of getting the higher end/extreme CPUs.

I'd imagine that led to too many higher binned chips being forced to be lower end SKUs for Intels liking. So,  Intel introduced the concept of unlocked and locked SKUs to force enthusiasts to spend more for the higher binned chips so Intel can make more money.

They didn't do it for a better experience for anyone but their bank account,  any claims to the contrary are shilling to Intel.  It's anti consumer but when they are getting closer to a monopoly by the day even when doing things like that die to lack of competition it's to be expected for it to continue.

I think a 1500 VA Eaton 5S should work fine for this, or the 5P for a bit more efficiency.

Your PC should pull a fair lot of power, I predict 600-700W, maybe more. I kind of don't recommend running the UPS at max capacity even if you only need a really short run time.

Why on earth force people who have no need for it to make this expense? If you're purchasing a car, no matter what type it is, you should account for the other expenses - in this case, the installation of a charger. Does Quebec force all homes to be wheelchair accessible? That's a more valid requirement and even that I think is unwarranted.

There are tons of building codes that are meant to be standard of living improvements but are a major hindrance to people who don't want/or to participate in such features.

For example,  in the U.S. it is illegal for a house to be built without connection to the power grid, or to be disconnected from the power grid. Any such house would be deemed unlivible and be seized. This means you can't choose to live off the grid providing your own power (through,  for example,  solar panels) or choose to live without power.

This is a hindrance to your freedom. There are no "one size fits all" solutions. We are all individuals with our own preferences and should be allowed to make our own choices.

A free market guarantees that a company is forced to provide service at a price and quality exceptable enough to hold enough customers to stay in business,  or risk being replaced by another company that rises out of a demand for better service or prices.

Here in the U.S., there are many laws that benifit large corporations over small start ups,  ensuring that large corporations are able to survive with minimal innovation and competition.

    For example:
    - Corporations sign contacts with cities and counties forbidding any company other than the one (s) in the contract from providing service in the area. This includes Internet,  TV, and cell services.
    - Corporations lobby the FCC to regulate radio wavelengths to make it more difficult for new companies to start  a cell service, as they have regulatory hoops they have to jump through.  All bandwidths not yet owned go up for auction when a company wants to buy a new bandwidth,  and big corporations can block small start ups by out bidding them.
There are many more laws like this but these are the biggest culprits.
I agree, but I don't agree with the government mandating it. When you advocate government mandating something,  you also advocate for government to fine and/or jail people who don't follow said mandate. I don't agree that people who choose not to have a car charger built in with their house should be fined/jailed/or evicted. It's their property,  they should be able to choose what features are built into their house.

Damn... 52% in a single day. AMD's market capitalization has gained $190,000,000. What could possibly cause such an event?

Earlier today, AMD had announced a deal to license server chip designs to Chinese company Tianjin Haiguang Advanced Technology Investment. This single deal alone is expected to bring AMD over $300,000,000. AMD also announced 3 new semi-custom design contracts, with all three having a combined value of $1,500,000,000. These contracts are most likely the console refreshes from Microsoft and Sony in addition to Nintendo's next console. These new contracts have one important impact:

AMD IS GOING TO BE PROFITABLE AGAIN!

In a single day, AMD raised its value $190 million, as well as announcing contracts worth a combined $1.7 BILLION dollars. This has been the best day, ever, for AMD since their public listing in 1979.

And this is all before Zen nor Polaris have launched. When that happens, AMD will be even better off.

    Opinion:
I... don't know what to say. This hasn't happened before... ever. I do know, however, that this is amazing, amazing, news for anybody who values competition.

We haven't even seen DP 1.3 on products yet but VESA has apparently been working hard to move DP along despite slow adoption. DP 1.3 was published in September 2014 and today we get 1.4.
DP 1.4 will utilize VESA's DSC (Display Stream Compression) to compress the data. Version 1.2 of DSC is capable of a compression ratio of 3:1 and is apparently visually lossless.

So it seems like DP 1.4 will be about adding compression capabilities to the spec as well as expanding support for HDR, audio and improving compatibility with HDMI 2.0.
It would also seem that there is no increase in raw bandwidth with the new spec, however the added compression compensates for that and will vastly improve effective bandwidth which will result in support for higher resolutions with HDR and high refresh rates.

We obviously won't see this in any 2016 products which includes Polaris and Pascal. Even 2017 is questionable. It's most likely that it'll be like DP 1.3 meaning two years after the release of the spec which in turn means 2018 at the earliest.

Would Ford be considered an accomplice if one of their cars were used to commit vehicular homicide? No, because that's not the intended use of their product.  Apple intends their encryption to be used to keep their law abiding customers data safe from criminals.  A criminal using the encryption to hide evidence of a crime is not Apples intended use for the product.
