Aree Soothsayer reacted to whm1974 in Is the new RX 6500 XT a worthy upgrade from a hd 5870 1gb
The GTX 1050 Ti will still be a better dGPU then the you are asking about.

Unfortunately space is limited and my desk is so cluttered with stuff that would otherwise be set on the floor, inside of cubbyholes, ect. So yea. Gloves.

Aree Soothsayer got a reaction from ki8aras in Pc crashes, burn history and help with new diagnosis.
This seems like it is more than a problem with your computer since other tech has been damaged during this time. It sounds like you're getting dirty power so before you get more parts to be burned by the base problem you should have some testing done by your power company and get a solid, industrial grade, protection on your computer in the form of a surge protector or battery+surge protector combo.

Aree Soothsayer got a reaction from Bombastinator in NEED HELP. My ram is running at 1800 MHz on a Hp all in one
Try checking with thaiphoon Ram checker.
Edit: I say this because it shows your current cas for it's 1800, not the boosted numbers. The program will read the embedded data for each ram stick allowing you to compare those values.

What are the CAS timing specs for each stick?

Aree Soothsayer got a reaction from Mark Kaine in Playing cyberpunk and after about a min or two, all monitors turn off for about 2 seconds, turns on, game crashes, task manager shows 100+ gpu spike
I dunno if this will work but try reducing the max power limit on the graphics card and if your mobo bios supports it place youur cpu on econo mode.

Aree Soothsayer got a reaction from VizziOn in pc freeze on startup.
If you can get into windows immediately hit the shift and reboot button. This will give you some startup options like starting in safe mode. Then if it continues to crash then it is either a base windows problem or hardware issue. If windows boots then think about any new programs or drivers you have installed. That might be the cause of the crashes.

Aree Soothsayer got a reaction from Mark Kaine in What if monitors.....
People buy multiple monitors and set them side by side. Either running their own stuff or linked together.
What if a Monitor maker designed the Monitor case with detachable sides. Allowing 2 monitors to link side by side or top to bottom without the bezel.
Those
Would
Sell
Out.

I use to use Avast Free Antivirus. Never had problems with it. Sounds like it'd meet your needs.

Aree Soothsayer got a reaction from G0dSpeed in Can I get some Wired mice suggestions, on the low cost side
No, the way I hold my mouse puts the ridge that is raised on the right side of it constantly along my third finger and palm, yea I hold it a bit wierd. The solid construction that reviews point out.... nnngh. If nothing else better is found by me or others I will get it.

Aree Soothsayer got a reaction from Peterwoo802 in LG tour game
I found it a bit of a waste of time.
The beautiful sound... was heard off my 15$ speakers. So I couldn't hear it.
The Wonderous 8k video was on my 1080 Monitor so I couldn't really see it.
The Tour game won't take the place of a live demo.

Aree Soothsayer got a reaction from Ethan_NLHW in Latest Windows Update buggy?
If you have a backup on an external drive you can install from that.
As for the update, you can do this to give yourself control over when you install windows updates.
Press the Windows logo key + R then type gpedit.msc and click OK.
Go to "Computer Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "Windows Components" > "Windows Update".
Double-click "Configure Automatic Updates".
Select "Disabled" in Configured Automatic Updates on the left, and click Apply and "OK" to disable the Windows automatic update feature.
