Bought my first EV a couple of weeks ago.
Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD.

I had been looking for an EV for about 6 months and tested several cars.
I was first looking at Ford Mach-E, Audi Q4 and VW ID.4 but I was utterly bored of those cars.
I'm sure they are good cars but after having owned several Audis and VWs, I wanted to buy something different.
I liked the Ford Mach-E but I just thought the Tesla was better in most cases.
There are a few quirks with the Tesla that isn't quite as good as they should be but overall I am very happy with the car.

And for the people that hates every car without an internal combustion engine, fear not...
I still have my old 964 that burns petrol like a MFer... 🙂

Yesterday you all convinced me that I should get the Neo G9.
I've been checking the prices on and off for some time and the Neo G9 has been steady at ~1800eur in my country.

A store that I occasional shop at just started a sales campaign for the Neo G9 today.
It was not on sale yesterday or I would have seen it.

So I have now placed an order for the Neo G9 at 1390eur.
Still expensive but at least it is a little bit cheaper 🙂.

Thanks for all the replies !!!

I really like this one. I haven't built in it but I want to at some point. It fits a 280mm AIO, and with some creativity you can fit a decent custom loop in it as some people have.

I have (mostly) read through your messages 😂.
While you don't really agree on everything I still got a feeling for what I can expect if I upgrade.

If I try to summarize what you all have said:
The 9900K is still a "capable" CPU but it is starting to show its age and is noticable slower compared to modern CPUs.
But if I keep my 3080, I would only see about 10-20% difference.

I usually skip 1 generation before upgrading.
    I've had GTX 580, GTX 770, GTX 1080 and now RTX 3080.
So I am not looking to upgrade the GPU at the moment.

So right now I am in some boring middle ground.
The 10-20% difference is not enough for me to really consider upgrading.

Boyohan reacted to RONOTHAN## in First ever PC build
I would be very concerned by the fact that they list the PSU as just "850W 80+ Gold" and not giving an actual model name. It could be a very well respected unit, or it could be a Gigabyte GP850GM that they got on sale and will likely blow up in that system. Since they list specific models of everything else, and if you were spending the extra on a quality unit odds are you'd want to advertise, I'd be leaning a lot closer to the "this PSU is probably a fire hazard" camp.

Also, why are they giving you a Windows 10 trial? System Integrators buy product keys in bulk and pay next to nothing for each key, they don't usually even charge you for the key and just include it in the build fee.

Bare in mind I have not done any research on this "Ant-PC", but given just that spec alone I would be very hesitant to order anything from them. Those are are some larger red flags IMO of them cutting costs where ever possible, and I would not trust the final product. If you can, look into ordering from somewhere else. The general specs are fine, nothing I would really change without knowing the price delta between each part, it's just that those two things in particular really concern me about what the final product will be like.

    No.
9700K is still a very competent CPU for gaming.
Up until early 2020, an overclocked 9700K was one of the best gaming CPUs available.

Ok so fans on the radiator is good and should keep the CPU at decent temps.
But the slow performance could still be heat related but we can't really know that until you check what your temps are during gaming.
My PC runs with CPU temps at 55-60°C and GPU temps at 60-65°C during gaming but anything below 85°C is fine.

Boyohan reacted to WereCat in i9-12900k now or wait for AMD Ryzen 7000
As always, if you can wait, then you likely don't really need the upgrade now and you should wait.
If you can't wait... then you don't wait and get whatever is available now.

New Ryzen should be expected likely Q3/Q4 this year so if you can wait that long it's up to you.

There is an extremely shortage of GPUs today (and prices are also very high in some places) so I would actually suggest you start looking for a GPU before you buy anything else.

I would suggest RTX 3070 or better.
With todays GPU shortage it doesn't really matter if it is a GPU from ASUS, MSI, GIGABYTE, EVGA etc..
Just buy what every you can find for a decent price.

Hard time right now for choices...

Due to the 12th intel gen CPUs needing Windows 11, and both are still in their early stages well I personally didn't go that road. (just build a new machine myself)

I would go for AMD this time, a X570 Motherboard like the Taichi from Asrock for example, then either a 5800X or 5900x, I went with a 5800X.

Then at least 32 gb ram, 16 is nice, but when running for example bluestacks, it takes a chunk. Here try to get at least DDR4 3600 in dual channel mode.

As a gfx card ... well you are so out of luck right now. But I would suggest a RTX3070, I kept my 1060 from the previous machine...

As for drives... well NVME. Here the "sky" is the limit... I went with a Crucial P2 tb and a P5 with 5 tb... yes not GEN4 or balls to the wall speed, but then I tell myself it is ok if it loads in 5 seconds instead of 4.5 ...

My whole system with everything new but the gfx card and peripherials/monitors is roughly 1500€ ...

    X570 Taichi
    5800X
    the two SSD
    32 GB Ram DDR3 3600
Bigtower case with noise dampening and airfiltering Fractal Design Define XL R2
Be Quiet Dark Rock TF2 as CPU Cooler
    Cooler Master V850 Platinum PSU

With that there would be around 1.5k left for a gfx card and or peripherials...

I got all that stuff from alternate here in germany... I think they got a french site as well...

What do I do with my system... well streaming to youtube with OBS, mostly mobile games... like 7DS Grand Cross... in bluestacks emulator, today 2 at the same time... went quite nicely... even with the older gtx 1060. But for AAA+ Titles the 1060 is a little underpowered... I just played though CONTROL in high/ultra DX11 settings... went smoothly.

So I hope this helped a little...

    Cheers

Boyohan got a reaction from Tan3l6 in Looking for advice on going to a liquid cooler
He asked for advice on AIOs (All In One liquid coolers) and you suggested NH-D15 and NH-D15S.
While I agree that an NH-D15 is more than good enough for basically any CPU, this is not what he asked about.
Most would probably recommend Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 240mm/280mm/360mm.
    NZXT Kraken X53 / X63 / X73 and Corsair iCUE H100i / H115i / H150i are also very popular.

The before mentioned NH-D15 air cooler has basically the same performance as a 240mm AIO.

In my previous case I used a Corsair H150i (360mm AIO) and it was fine and I have no complaints about it.
But I switched to NH-D15 because I wanted a more silent build and my CPU temps are roughly the same.

Fractal Meshify 2 can fit most AIOs without any problem.
240mm AIO is good enough for 6700K.
You don't really need a 280mm or 360mm radiator for that CPU.
But getting a slightly bigger cooler may be a good idea if you plan to upgrade your CPU in the not to distant future.
