I dont think so, esp if you heavily overclock your cpu

Well that depends on yhe resolution, game and settings. If you are playing at 4k then a much weaker cpu would do just fine unless it's cyberpunk 2077 as that game is crazy unoptimized. Anyways at 1080p it will absolutely bottleneck in some games but then again so will basically all cpus so it just depends on if you think you get enough performance. If it bottlenecks at 200 fps then yeah it probably won't matter much to you. What games and at what resolutions are you planning on playing?

Not all Games are Equal.

GTAV won't use ALL your system resources, it was made prior to the 6-8 core revolution.

^CPU Frequency matters most for GTAV once you already have the amount of cores/threads needed.

1440p should equalize most of the games and CPU/GPU load things vs 1080p...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

No.

9700K is still a very competent CPU for gaming.

Up until early 2020, an overclocked 9700K was one of the best gaming CPUs available.

  • 9 months later...

I play r6 with 1080p. I use the low quality picture but 2x MSAA. The highest fps is 300+ average 240+ but some times it will drop in 150. Im really comfuse about it.
