There isn't really anything wrong with my current dual 27" displays so I am not willing to spend a huge amount of money on it.

Around 1000-1200eur, maybe a little bit more if there is a huge performance/quality difference.

In my original post I should instead have asked:

Is there any reason not to buy the Samsung C49RG90 for 900eur ?

Is this in any way a bad monitor ?

Refresh rate and HDR experience due to the Neo G9's Mini LED backlight.

Hi

So I want to buy a 32:9 ultrawide monitor.

It will be used for gaming (mostly RPGs), work and the occasional movie.

It doesn't need to have crazy high refresh rate, anything 120hz or more is fine.

I have mostly been looking at a couple of 49" Samsung displays.

Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 S49AG950 - 1760eur

Samsung C49RG90 - 900eur

Both the above mentioned displays will be an upgrade compared to my current 27" Acer XB271HU that I've had for about 6-7 years.

But I don't know if the quality/performance is worth the extra cost.

When I'm looking at the specs I feel like the C49RG90 is good enough.

Am I wrong ?

You're gaming, primarily RPG's.  You don't need a 1760 euro monitors do you?

Let's keep a little perspective here. 🙂

Care to explain why ? A 45" 21:9 is already so big that changing the ratio isn't a big deal imo...

Not the OP but those 45" models are the same 3440x1440 as your standard 34" models so the PPI is awful. Not to mention he's looking at 5120x1440 which none of them are.

@Boyohanthere really isn't anything that compares to the Neo G9, unless you wait for the G9 OLED or  the upcoming Neo G9 57" with its insane 7,680×2,160 res. Don't expect either of those to be cheaper than the current Neo G9, however.

Those new monitors will most likely cost one or maybe both of my kidneys so they are not an option.

I don't really have a specific budget for a new monitor.

There isn't really anything wrong with my current dual 27" displays so I am not willing to spend a huge amount of money on it.

I will wait until the Neo G9 drogs a bit in price.

The price you get in your area for Neo G9 is a bit too high. It is around euro $1360 only when convert from my local official price now.

Try check other source or wait for promotion period.

49" Odyssey G9 NEO Series LS49AG950NEXXS | Samsung Malaysia

I own the Neo G9 and it is awesome but remember not all games support in 32:9 aspect ratio and some look very bad where it is actually cutting off the top and bottom.

I recommended you get the Neo G9 and avoid in G9 as the mini-LED is the one shine here.

As for those 45" in 3440x1440 is highly not recommended, the PPI is too small for such giant size.

Yesterday you all convinced me that I should get the Neo G9.

I've been checking the prices on and off for some time and the Neo G9 has been steady at ~1800eur in my country.

A store that I occasional shop at just started a sales campaign for the Neo G9 today.

It was not on sale yesterday or I would have seen it.

So I have now placed an order for the Neo G9 at 1390eur.

Still expensive but at least it is a little bit cheaper 🙂

Thanks for all the replies !!!
