  1. I agree that the Define 7 isn't the best with the closed front panel but I am looking for a white case so I don't really like the Meshify case. (the white Meshify case is black on the inside) I am considering BeQuiet Pure Base 500DX
  2. Full spec: CPU: i9 9900K @ 5.1ghz, RAM: 4x 8GB 3200MHz CL16 Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO, Mobo: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F, GPU: ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080
  3. Planning to redo my current build in a new case with a new CPU cooler. New case: Fractal Design Define 7 New cooler: NH-D15 My concern is if the new cooler will fit with my current RAM ? I have 4x 8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro. I know that you can change the position of the first fan but I wonder if this is enough ? See my signature for more info on my current spec.
  4. You don't really need 12 or 16 cores for gaming. So you could go for the 5800x with 6900XT.
  5. The BIOS will adjust the RAM profile to run at the maximum speed that your CPU supports. So if you have 3200mhz RAM it will lower the speed to the highest allowed setting (2666mhz).
  6. At stock speed there isn't very much difference between a 10600K and 10400F. In real world gaming performance we are only talking about a few FPS. Especially if you plan to use a low or mid tier GPU. The reason you buy a "K" series CPU from intel is because you plan to give it a small or big overclock. And if you are planning to overclock the CPU you will need a Z490 board. So... 10400F with B460 10600K with Z490 If you have extra cash I would say it is better to spend it on a better GPU.
  7. That could probably be caused by a program running in the background. Check all programs and turn them of one by one to see if they are causing any CPU spikes.
  8. I would prefer the Ryzen 7. It is hard to say what the future will bring but it could be that future games can utilize more than 6 cores so going for a Ryzen 7 will probably be good for the longevity of your PC (2-5 years from now). You may also need to upgrade your PSU. What PSU do you have today ? If you only upgrade your mobo/CPU you could probably use your old PSU but when upgrading your GPU you will most likely need a new power supply. I have switched both motherboard and CPU on separate times. First time I changed mobo Z370 -> Z390 but reu
  9. It is hard to say how much more FPS you will gain. What I can say it that if you are already bottlenecking your GTX 1070 and usage is only 20%-30% then upgrading to a RTX 3070 will give you nothing.
  10. Well there is your answer. Get a Ryzen 3600 with a good B450 mobo. Yes Ryzen 5000 series is about to be released but probably at a higher price so the Ryzen 3600 could still be the best in price/performance ratio.
  11. Most B450 boards would work fine but it depends on how you want to use it. Form factor ? ATX, m-ATX, Mini-ITX Will you overclock your CPU ? For overclocking you would need a board with better VRMs. MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX is a very popular motherboard but if you are planning to upgrade to Ryzen 5000 then I would recommend B550 and X570 boards.
  12. What resolution and what is your average FPS ? How much FPS do you want ? 60fps in 4k ? 144fps in 1440p ? For example I average 70-90fps in 1440p with my GTX 1080. I would like +120fps so I have ordered RTX 3080 and currently waiting for delivery. If you get the frames you are aiming for then I see no reason to upgrade.
  13. The 8700K is still a good CPU if it has a decent overclock. There is very little difference compared to Intels latest CPUs. The problem with 8700K is the crappy thermal paste under the IHS. Would recommend a delid with liquid metal.
  14. Working part time for my dad in the warehouse of his company in the summer/fall of 2000. I convinced him to let the company buy me a PC and allow me to work off my debt. It was a beast !! My spec: AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1200mhz ABIT motherboard Geforce 2 GTS 256mb or 512mb SDRAM 30gb or 60gb HDD Also bought a CRT monitor 17" 75hz My previous PC before this was the "family PC" with Pentuim 2 233mhz with voodoo 2 graphics It took me a long time to work of the PC but it was worth it !!
  15. Recap of the year so far. Safe to say that 2020 was a disappointment as car enthusiast. Most shows, meets, drives etc.. was cancelled in the spring and summer due to COVID. Now it is the time of the year to put the car to rest in my workshop and give the car a look to see if there are anything that needs to be fixed (or upgraded ). Looking forward to 2021 and hoping for a better year. Porsche 964 C4
