circeseye got a reaction from HesCalledTheStig in Need help picking new TV.
they have updated oled with good mitigations. youd have to keep a static image for a hell of a long time (were talking months). and even then lgs mitigation (pixel shift i think it is) still helps a lot

circeseye reacted to BuzzingBee in Windows 10 blocking me from 5.1 Audio
That's a great summary there, I wish this picture is on audio's FAQ.
Also, forgot to add that multichannel analog can be a hit-or-miss in terms of electrical interference. And even if it works, most AVR only amplify sound; it won't process audio enhancements like Audyssey EQ, bass management etc, instead it needs to be adjusted within sound's software. I haven't touched Realtek in so long I don't know what features it currently has, but much rather use HDMI audio and let AVR do the work.

circeseye reacted to Roswell in Looking for some help picking out a first home theater system
Subs are a no-go in the majority of apartments. 1000W systems like you’re linking are DEFINITELY a no-go. If there are renters on the floor above you it will be super annoying for them to listen to it for hours. This extends to speakers in general as well, you’re usually expected to keep things relatively quiet.
Before you buy anything I’d first check the fine print in your lease along with asking your new neighbors upstairs.

circeseye reacted to OhioYJ in How do I rip a damaged audio CD?
A lot of places that buy / sell movies / games have an actual disc polishers / resurfacers and charge a few bucks to refinish a disc for you. The trick is finding a place that actually has a real machine to do it.
You can try something like unstoppable copy to read what's there, but it's going to be slow. The other issue is if the disc is that scratched even if you do get data from it it's likely not going to be good data.
Short of that, you can try and polish it yourself. Just be careful, you can damage the disc as well.

circeseye reacted to JustCer in LG tv with WebOS adding new menu language
Have a solution. Got my hands on LG service remote and change region settings in EZ-adjust menu (changed to UK as it was first region code I encountered).
Now I have multiple menu language selection from Europe.

circeseye got a reaction from dalekphalm in Solutions to connect headphones to TV LG55NANO81 while also playing from (internal) speakers
nano81 has
HDMI 4
USB 2
Digital Optical Audio Out 1
Analog Audio Out 3.5mm 0
Analog Audio Out RCA 0
Component In 1 (shared)
Composite In 1 (shared)
Tuner (Cable/Ant) 1
Ethernet 1
DisplayPort 0
IR In 0
SD/SDHC 0
so only earc and tos for audio out
the only difference with the nano81 models is the stand

circeseye got a reaction from PixelGeek in Amp shorting out.
you ran it under hot water? 🤦♂️
you dont use water...next time use rubbing alcohol or crc electronics cleaner or similar
looking at what i can see it kind of looks like something cooked and the residue is from smoke or residue from what died.
is your area humid? high humidity can cause the smoke or residue to cake also

circeseye got a reaction from German_Angst in Dolby Atmos audio dropouts
ok do not use earc except for tv apps. i have a lg nano90 and a denon x3700h. comp to lg to x3700h will not play atmos unless its a app (netflix, amazon) anything else nope even 5.1 has issues at times, its a lg earc issue
comp to receiver to tv, atmos works fine just have to deal with denons pos 2.1 chip

circeseye got a reaction from UMAIRDBZ in i want to buy amplifier dolby atmos 7.1 for pc
denon, marantz, pioneer, yamaha....take your pick
if your looking for 120hz hdmi 2.1 yamaha just came out with a fully working chip in theres..and denon the only one with a updated chip is AVR-X8500HA the rest need a external adapter you have to ask for

circeseye reacted to tikker in Hissing Sound on Edifier R1000T4 Speakers
Could simply be hiss/distortion from amplifying too much.
I would do this the other way around. Send as much volume from Windows as is comfortable and then control volume with the speakers. For example I have Windows at 100% going into my AVR and control volume from there.

circeseye reacted to FloRolf in 5.1 speakers to TV
Well that's pretty janky for today's standards.
As far as I can tell you need something like this.
A device that converts either your TV's optical Audio out or USB (if supported by TV) and converts that to 3x 3.5mm for the respective channels.

Edit: I think with output cables on the sub you actually mean input right? Because the output obviously goes to your other speakers.

circeseye got a reaction from 220VoltsallCore in 4K only shows 30hz for pc
unless your using a old hdmi cable its a setting.
first make sure you hdmi settings on the lg are set right..picture..additional settings...hdmi ultra deep color..make sure hdmi your using is on
if thats not it you have a setting in nvidia you need to turn off (not familiar with nvidia but what windows says is right just no 60hz)

circeseye reacted to BondiBlue in Can someone identify this old soundcard?
It's just a simple Labway A311D20 as mentioned by @Mo5. It's not worth much, but it could definitely be useful to someone. I'd sell it for $5 and be glad that someone can put it to good use.

circeseye reacted to Garak in Is there such a thing as a good external bluray drive?
Meant to reply to this earlier, following your post I found these to be significantly cheaper and it's the option I've went with. Thank you.

circeseye got a reaction from dalekphalm in Need to connect home theater with arc
thats a hdmi "out" arc port for a tv to send sound back like from a smart tvs apps
you need a hdmi "in" for your gpu to send sound to it
