Need to connect home theater with arc

Raosahajdeep

Hi Everyone,

I just built a system a year back. The specification are:

Ryzen 3600

Inno3D 1660ti

Msi b450 gaming plus

So I have a old home theater system from sony DAV-DZ340K and it has a HDMI arc output port. If i use the aux in port on my home theater it only works in 2.1 channel and i want to set it up in 5.1 channel. It does not have optical or HDMI in. Is there any way i can set it up.

No, you have no options.

You can run it in 2.1 input, and that's it.  It's not a receiver, so it won't do anything better.

first off quote people so they see it.

Secondly, that's HDMI Out.  not ARC.

thats a hdmi "out" arc port for a tv to send sound back like from a smart tvs apps

I think you're misunderstanding what ARC can do.

ARC stands for "Audio Return Channel". Basically the only way to get ARC to work is by connecting it to your TV, and having your TV send back the 5.1 surround track.

But the problem is, where does the TV get the track from? Your TV also has to support ARC, but also it has to support sending 5.1 over ARC, and the Sony system has to support receiving 5.1 over ARC.

You could try PC -> TOSLINK -> TV -> HDMI via ARC -> Sony system

The main problem is that it's an All-in-One DVD/Surround System. It's not a proper Home Theatre Receiver, therefore it lacks the necessary ports you desire. There's no good solution here. The TOSLINK from PC to TV and back to the Sony system is likely your best bet, but I'm pretty skeptical that it'll work.
