I’m sorry, that build scares me.its just… very interesting.
Why a Vega 64 in 2024? If you cut money, you can get the 7900gre now. Buy it used if you have to, and sell the 64

I'd go windows 11 unless you have a specific reason to use 10(which you probably don't if your asking here). Your gonna be basically forced to 11 soon with 10 going eol in about a year and a half, so might as well use 11 now.

minato reacted to TVwazhere in How many fans can I daisy chain together
There's a technical answer to this:

Each fan header on a motherboard is able to push out (typically unless otherweise specifed) 1A of power.

Every fan has their listed amp usage on them. Typically this ranges from 0.15A to 0.4A. You can find this info on the fan motor sticker

So, generally speaking you can safely attach 3 fans to one header. Beyond that, you'll need to invest in a fan hub to get the amount of fans you want all controlled by one header.

minato reacted to RONOTHAN## in Should I do a BIOS update on my Asus ROG Strix X370-F Gaming motherboard?
Yeah, to enable XMP you need to enable DOCP. In the AI Tweaker tab, you want to set the AI Overclock Tuner to DOCP, then select the XMP profile.

Depends on if you're running out of RAM or not. 16GB is still usable nowadays, though it's somewhat easy to run out of RAM if you're heavy into multitasking. If you are running out of RAM, do an upgrade, otherwise I'd just put that money towards the eventual full system upgrade instead.

    Budget (including currency): $1000 USD
    Country: US
Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Starfield, and I want to try streaming. I'll probably play some other games eventually but I'll be hooked on Starfield for a while
Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Selling my PS5 to help with my budget, my friend is giving me his old 1080p monitor for now and can help me build the computer. He said I shouldn't buy a prebuilt but I'm not sure what to get. I can buy a cheap mouse and keyboard for now and upgrade those later, I'm not including them in my budget. Help please! Thanks in advance!

Do not ever talk about tech and specs while linking user benchmark. Until you learn what is good data, bad data, reputable sites and non reputable sites, refrain from spreading bad info. UserBenchmark has been well known for being blatantly bad, they HATE AMD, and do everything to skew results against them. A 4070ti is a glorified 3090 at lower power, a 6950XT is about the same as a 3090, with some losses in the 3-6% range depending on the game. Its not 30%, that alone should make you question the validity of the data if you spent 5 minutes looking at info. Ray tracing? I could see a performance difference like that, but in general no.

OP how much are 6900XT there?

Userbenchmark has a not-even-concealed bias against AMD products, and should generally never be trusted.

The Western Digital Black M.2 is better in my opinion, it's made for pure gaming play and storage. It's basically a Samsung drive only a little cheaper and designed for gaming.

The Netherlands doesnt often have insane deals than in other parts of the world to be honest.
I once saw a GTX 1080 go for around 550 USD, which is insane to me.

I know Low/mid range is also fine, but do to the monthly obligatory payments and life itself I have to save up a long time to get something new

I'll get there in the end though, eventually

Given that CPUs have no moving parts and not components that significantly degrade, they are the *best* part to buy used. Sure, maybe if you overclocked the snot out of one and slammed it with 100% load for a decade you might start to be able to measure some performance degradation, but for all intents and purposes there is extremely little risk in buying a used CPU, especially with Ebay's buyer protection

My take is that during the pandemic, Nvidia learned that people will buy their GPUs at scalper prices. Because of this, Nvidia increased the price themselves because they figured they could make more money per card without necessarily shipping hardware that justified the higher prices.

I guess people aren't as willing to pay scalper prices as Nvidia thought they were.

I really wish that you would include at least a couple of games at 1440P or 4K Ultra settings in the gaming benchmarks. Who is buying a 7900X or 13900K and gaming at 1080P? It would be nice to know what kind of real world impact this would have on me upgrading a CPU.

Definitely interesting, though since I paid $348 for my 7700x and the 7700 is $329... it's linear.  Plus i got DDR5-6000 for free with it.

So I guess those that paid $399 without free RAM got played?

Ehh, it's just how they all do business.  Always something better right around the corner.
