The Owl reacted to SenSnowy in CDPR created an internal bug montage video "Cyber ElBuggado 2020" just prior to the release of Cyberpunk 2077
A recent leak and more footage was found that shows what a buggy mess cyberpunk was prior to its release and it’s multiple delays.
jason Schreier who talked to over 20 employees before the release and had gotten plenty of criticism for his report that Cyberpunk was in no way finish and the employees are overworked and underpaid back in early 2020, made a comment on Twitter.
Video in link below. First clip contains NSFW game footage.
Summary
The video is a fun composition of bug materials QA and developers collected.
Quotes
My thoughts
Honestly I hope this teaches the industry how viable QA is and it’s better to push a release than release a buggy mess. Sadly they won’t and we still see it every release.

Some of those were funny. Sucks it got released buggy, but oh wow do all games... Still for me it plays well and I haven't noticed too many bugs that made it unplayable, which I definitely did in other games so. As long as they continue working on the game, improving it all good. Game is nice and has a potential to be better.

The Owl reacted to WolframaticAlpha in Antivirus that mines Ethereum sounds a bit wrong, right? Norton puts one.
hehehe
Summary
Norton, the antivirus giant, has added an ethereum miner to it's latest version of Norton lifelock. Norton Crypto, allows users to use their machines to mine the Ethereum cryptocurrency during the computer's idle time.It will most probably use pooled resources to mine faster and distribute the rewards fairly. This is in part to prevent a nicehash-like situation, in which a person has to disactivate their antivirus. An update will bring this 'feature' to it's Norton 360 service in the coming weeks. Norton might add other cryptocurrencies later.

My thoughts
Kid's, don't be troglodyte, use common sense and you will never need an antivirus.
Also, now mcafee actually has reasons to call norton malware. Great going, symantec.
Jokes aside, pretty idiotic of Norton to do this. Now my mother will call me up after 3 years, saying that her laptop died, and then I discover she had accidentally switched on Norton crypto.

The Owl reacted to BachChain in "Slightly thicker than human hair": world's thinnest vapor chamber announced
Summary
Cooler Master, the well known maker of PC peripherals and cooling solutions, has revealed their latest innovation: a vapor chamber so thin that it's thickness is comparable to that of a single strand of hair. Measuring at just 200um, the chamber is designed for laptops and mobile devices where conventional cooling solutions are considered impractical or inadequate.
Although the technology has been announced, there are currently no commercially available products that utilize it. Those are expected to take another 2-3 years to appear.

My thoughts
I have a hard time imagining that at this scale, it would be any better than just a regular sheet of copper. This also doesn't solve the dissipation issue. But CM seems to think it's worth investing in, so they must know something I don't.

The Owl reacted to d-kressjr in PewDiePie signs exclusive live streaming deal with YouTube

This news is pretty short.
Back in 2019, Felix singed an exclusive live streaming deal with dlive.tv where he was able to amass a following of 822k followers. However, his last live stream on that platform was over 4 moths ago.
Now, news has come out that he has signed an exclusive live streaming deal to return to Youtube for all of his live content. Felix said in a statement that
Felix also said that returning to YouTube just felt like a "natural fit" given he's been on the platform for 10 years.
Unsurprisingly, some articles (particularly those published by more "mainstream" press) bring attention to his past controversies that everyone is well aware of. Some articles, particularly the Forbes article, claim that Felix has not suffered any real consequences for his slip-ups and mistakes. The Forbes article writes how this new deal has
This is a very touchy topic that I am treading on. I feel like it is appropriate to mention that I am not affiliated with any of the groups of people that Felix's past comments were targeted towards and I have been a fan of Felix's content for many years now. However, I think it is inaccurate to say he didn't suffer any consequences, and I do not think this deal makes all of his past mistakes treated like no big deal.
That is my personal opinion. What are you guys' thoughts?

The Owl reacted to dalekphalm in researcher publishes second steam 0 day, valve doesn't care
At least you're honest about stealing the work of others: You do it because you want to and because you can. And let's be honest, because there's essentially no risk to piracy for most people.
Except they are making their games widely available. You just decided you weren't going to use the platforms that have these games.
Spyware claim aside (because by your own admission, even if it were on Steam, for example, with no Spyware, you'd still pirate it), you're doing more harm to the industry than good. People who pirate a game because of DRM are the people that companies implementing DRM are trying to fight against. They're only going to implement more aggressive DRM because of it.
In the end, you do you, but the best thing to do is to not buy the game, don't pirate it, and tweet the devs explaining in explicit terms why you're not buying or playing a game you want to (or other public social media, such as posting on the devs Facebook page, or the official forums of the game in question, etc).

I am expecting the 3000's to be killer CPU's that are going to be hard to not recommend for most users. But my point still remains, until we have an actual benchmark, it is unwise to tell people to go out and start buying AM4 parts now because we "assume" Intel won't have anything on offer.

Yet another collection of leaked usernames and passwords. If you haven't already, be sure to enable multi-factor authentication on your accounts and there's sure to be an increase in credential stuffing attempts following this news story.

The Owl reacted to LAwLz in UPDATE 2 - Czech National Security Agency - Huawei, ZTE are a security threat
It's not that I don't want you bringing up facts. I just wanted you to bring up facts which are relevant to this news thread (which is a ban on Huawei devices for supposed security reasons), rather than derail it.
The thing is though, the US and UK are doing the same crap. Just look up Struxnet, or WannaCry, or how the CIA have hijacked and modified transports of network equipment from Cisco.
I am not blindly defending Huawei. What I am asking is for some evidence from the people blindly accusing them for things which have not been proven.
I strongly believe in "innocent until proven guilty". It is what the entire legal system in our modern world is founded upon. So until I see evidence I will treat them as innocent. I will be suspicious of them, just like I am suspicious of things developed in the US or other hostile territories engaging in cyber-warfare, but I honestly think that banning them makes less sense than banning US companies like Cisco.
I only make judgements based on the facts I have. Right now, I don't have any facts that Huawei are a tool for the Chinese government to pose a threat to national security.
