i water cool myself because its fun to do. ill have like 6x 560mm rads in my build with 4x d5 pumps... with a delided cpu.
but i dont no how to oc...🤷‍♂️

i dont no custom loop is the fun factor not just about prefromace. aios come prity close to it anyway.

some custom loops need a top up per week just depends. my dad system with just the cpu with this 3570 he went 2 years with out filling it. i was like wtf but i took a look and the flow was good so... 🤷‍♂️

-rascal- got a reaction from ItsPattyD in Is a Ryzen 9 5950X a good match for the RTX 4080 or will it bottleneck?
    @ItsPattyD

    Ryzen 2700X is a 8-core / 16-thread CPU, while the 5950X is 16-core / 32-thread.
There is more cores = more heat generated, so not surprising the 5950X will have a lower Base Clock, so it conforms to the "105W" spec.

For gaming purposes, and workloads / applications that can make use of the X3D V-Cache, the 5800X3D will outperform the 5950X. The 5950X has the 16-cores across two 8-core chiplets, so there is some performance loss due to communication between the two.

    If you need the additional cores, sure, get the 5950X. Otherwise, the 5800X / 5800X3D / 5700X3D over the 5900X / 5950X.

Just because you are a computer scientist doesnt mean you know shit about hardware.

What may be happening is a bitlocked drive. Aka chuck a linux usb in it and wipe.

Or if there was a bios password then well a but harder but also should be as easy as wiping the drive externally and installing a os then from a usb as the laptop cant find any other bootable device. Or worst case install windows from another system onto the drive and chuck it in.

Also who forgets their logon password if its often used?

I think they may have a aggressive piece of malware here so basically after you are done with the stick grt a linux pc up and runningh to sanitize the hell outta it

The 7800X3D is arguably the fastest gaming processor currently available , Slower than the 14900k in some stuff but Faster in other stuff.

All this being said whether you get a 14700k or 7800X3D won't really matter much you will be getting a top tier experience.

Difference is though the 14700k platform is end of life and AM5 still has atleast 1 generation and more than likely 2 generations left on its platform.

EDIT : The 7800X3D is also alot more power efficient in gaming workloads than the 14700k.

-rascal- reacted to MadAnt250 in Why is my power draw and utilisation so low?
Possible, yes. For now put a frame rate cap of 60 - 100 and don't worry about the utilization of both gpu and cpu. GTA V hits the engine limits at around 140fps I think, then it stutters and stuff. So even after you do a cpu upgrade in the future, don't worry about it.

-rascal- reacted to GuiltySpark_ in Why is my power draw and utilisation so low?
3400G is Zen+ based so Ryzen 2000, and only a 4-core w/ 4MB of L3 cache. That poor thing is at nearly 80c working its damn ass off to feed that GPU.

Yeah, that's a classic CPU bottleneck.

Consider throwing in a modern chip to see significant uplifts, even something like a 5600 would be huge.

Odd how an airport wifi would be scanning for messages about blowing up planes.  Really makes no sense when you think about it. /s

No such thing as privacy, and if you want to rail against it be my guest.  This isn't a movie where we can enact change after an 1.5 hours of running around, getting Angelina Jolie or Keanu Reeves to hack us free.

We're all being watched cuz some people do bad shit.  Be upset with those that blow up planes, not those trying to make sure planes don't get blown up.  Sure, they can be too much, like the TSA is basically the mafia, but for the most part the real issue is PEOPLE.  We fucking suck.

Btw, regardless of how it was discovered or reported, what fucking idiot sends that AT THE AIRPORT!?!   In this day and age, no less.  Sure in 1985 it was a giggle, but in 2024?  Utterly fucking stupid.

Totally forgot about the mATX Gene.

Crosshair, Maximus, Rampage were the different platforms.
Crosshair was for AMD's mainstream platform, while Maximus was for Intel's mainstream platform (i.e. Z790) and Rampage was Intel HEDT (i.e. X58, X79, X99).
You can have combinations of Crosshair/Maximus/Rampage with TUF/Strix/Hero/Formula/Extreme/Apex, etc, etc.

Rampge VI Extreme was LGA 2066 / X299.

Strix owl, Cerberus hound, and then TUF Sabertooth...is now just TUF.

No clue. It started back in 9th gen IIRC where the Apex was something like $20 more than the Hero (though availability was sketchy enough to where it wasn't super relevant regardless).

Most of ASUS's ROG lineup can be eliminated since the only board there worth even considering is the Apex, all the other Maximus boards make no sense in comparison, and the Strix boards are usually overpriced compared to the competition from other vendors.

Also, this is a common practice between "retail" and "wholesale" and "direct" variants. Typically the performance is the same between all the models with some minor differences. Read the short write up before the table to see the differences in the LG C3 models.

Yeah, it's her car. She's short for her height so she doesn't like driving a short car on top of that. I'm not a SUV person at all which is why I bought a small sedan to replace my old medium sedan that was too big for me. My ideal car size is 2000 Celica and smaller, I LOVE the dimensions of a MR2 Spyder. I'd daily an Autozam AZ1 if I could! I love small cars. But not tall small cars like those terrible Smart ForTo.

    Yeah, confused with NVLINK.

You can't pool memory from both GPUs. So yes you have 12GB. If an app like Blender is able to use 2 GPUs for rendering it's going to need to put a copy of the whole scene in each GPU so the 12GB are still going to be the limit.

She liked the Corolla Cross Hybrid we test drove but would like one in the XSE trim which is tough to track down but would be comparable to her Titanium trim that the Ford Escape had. For the price difference between the SE and XSE and how much nicer the interior is it's 100% worth it especially since she wants to hang onto the car for a while. Hybrid because I heard the standard is dog shit slow and annoying to wind the engine out hard all the time, not much torque down low and not much top end either compounded by the ECVT. The Hybrid felt nimble to go from a stop and cornering felt good when she was driving. She likes the interior layout and felt comfortable driving it, she sort of just got in and went for it which is not how she normally drives a car that's new to her. I think it's what she's going to end up going with over the CX-30.
She wouldn't dislike going back to a car from the small SUV but she finds the extra space handy to have and because she's so short she likes being up a little higher now that she's used to it. Front seat room in the Corolla Cross (terrible name btw) felt better and less cramped than her 2016 Escape, cargo space and rear seat looked about the same, head room felt a little taller to me overall.

There was this saying, a man bought his car to the mechanic cause it would not start. The mechanic took a look at it, then went to grab a hammer, and bang on the car, and the car started. Mechanic charge the man an invoice of $1000. The man was shocked and said, what, you charged me $1000 for all you did was use a $1 hammer, I could have done it myself! The mechanic said, the hammer cost $1, but knowing where to hit cost $999, so the total is $1000.

People watch an engineer designing a spaceship and all they see is the engineer moving the mouse and typing. Then they think anyone can move a mouse and type.

They forget the part that the real skill is in how exactly to move the mouse in a very expensive software and that the typed numbers and words need to be correct.

I've recently been looking at repair costs for some idiot who wacked their car door into mine, leaving a scratch about 1.5" along one of the doors.
1.5" of paint is about $5, however the shop has quoted me $260 to repair it.

This is because the cost of running the shop is more than just the paint. I don't see anything wrong with the estimate in OPs post.
