Why is my power draw and utilisation so low?

Amaz0nalexa

While playing games like GTA V Online my gpu is not drawing a lot of power. I am thinking that it may be because of my CPU. (specs down below) And it is causing my games to not run like i feel they should be.

CPU:Ryzen 5 PRO 3400G

GPU:ASUS RX 7600 OC

PSU:VS450 GREY

RAM:2x8GB 3200MHZ CRUCIAL BALLISTIX

MOBO:A320M-K PRIME

This is the GPU-Z graph after around 5 mins of driving around on very high settings in a closed session on GTA V Online.

3400G is Zen+ based so Ryzen 2000, and only a 4-core w/ 4MB of L3 cache. That poor thing is at nearly 80c working its damn ass off to feed that GPU.

Yeah, that's a classic CPU bottleneck.

Consider throwing in a modern chip to see significant uplifts, even something like a 5600 would be huge.

Possible, yes. For now put a frame rate cap of 60 - 100 and don't worry about the utilization of both gpu and cpu. GTA V hits the engine limits at around 140fps I think, then it stutters and stuff. So even after you do a cpu upgrade in the future, don't worry about it.

Get a drop in R5 5600 or even 5000x3D, whatever version you can get cheapest, really. There should be more dropping, but if you can snag the 5600x3D at a nearby Microcenter, that would be best, otherwise, you can wait for the other R5 5000x3D SKUs to come out.
