I would not recommend any VR system that doesn't have full tracking with controllers.
Try to get a Quest instead.

have you tried it with the opencl version on your current gpu?

Really depends on how much you want to spend, there are plenty of numbers out there about the performance differences.

your current system is more than enough to start out with. I wouldn't buy hardware until you got the basics down.

Either of those SHOULD be able to do what you want with it, with the x5500 being better for logical cores as it has hyper-threading, so giving you 16 Vs the 8 actual cores on the other server.
That being said, I have no actual experience with those ones, so please do some reading up on them too, so that you are clear what you are getting for your money. Servers take a while to boot for instance, so bear that in mind if you wanted to switch them off to save power when not in use.... and if leaving them on (as you should), then bear in mind your power usage will be quite a bit more too... and they are fairly noisy.
Personally I would've opted for a micro-server instead, they have fewer drive bays but ATM it looks like you don't plan to fill them anyway. And unless running an expandable storage OS, that means you may have to re-do the server when you want to expand.

I saw your guide. I now think that I should take my $300 budget , and save up for a while to get an official i3 kit. I figure that in the time I will take to get a $300 printer to work, I can save up for an official i3 and get way better quality. Thanks.

    Here are some book recommendations:

Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson, you don't need to buy this book brand new.  If you can find it second hand it would be best because this book is something you would read during the first couple of months as a beginner and then you leave it in the book shelf for the rest of your life. The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman Within the Frame by David DuChemin Photographically Speaking by David DuChemin Sketching Light, Hot Shoe Diaries by Joe Mcnally (I'm mentioning two books here, titles separated by a comma) Since you also mentioned video, you may want to check these books out:
Location Sound Bible by Ric Viers DSLR Filmmaker's handbook by Barry Andersson and Janie L. Geyen Film Production Techniques by Bruce Mamer Filmmaker's Handbook by Steven Ascher and Edward Pincus Cinematography: Theory and Practice by Blain Brown These are just a few recommendations, there are so many other resources out there if you are willing to learn.

I just cannot imagine the staff on board allowing this, of course if it is really local like your just 3 people sitting next to eachother I don't think you would have a problem but the moment you start putting wires to other rows I think you would weird the staff out and they would ask you to stop your shenanigans

Hulkbert reacted to kokakolia in Sub $15 USD on or over ear headphones.
The Skullcandy are surprisingly rugged because they're simple and lightweight.

They have a metal headband with sliding earcups. This is the most fail proof design for a headband. That said, it's folding system looks pretty delicate. But you shouldn't have any issues due to the lighter weight. The number 1 issue with headphones is always the audio jack. This headphone has a detachable cable so you should be fine. Just don't stuff them at the bottom of a book bag and you should be fine. I have the Skullcandy Grind, and I can confidently say that it's the most durable cheap headphone ever built. But it has a much simpler design. It doesn't fold.

Surprisingly, something like the JBL S300 is less rugged because the headband is overly complex with lots of tiny pieces that may fail over time.

Hulkbert reacted to kokakolia in Sub $15 USD on or over ear headphones.
Most people on these forums have no clue when it comes to cheap headphones. They recommend out-dated, or over-sized headphones for portable use etc...It usually ends up being some kind of cheapo Sennheiser that sounds dull (HD 201), some Ok-ish Monoprice headphone (Monoprice 108323), or worse! a Superlux!

Superlux = screeching treble from the depths of hell

I hate Superlux so much. Their HD 681 probably gave me permanent hearing loss. The treble was so horrid.

These headphones just don't cut the mustard.

These days, many overlooked headphones from 2 years ago that used to be sold for $100 are now sold for less than $40.

$15 doesn't get you much or anything. But, if you're willing to spend a measly $10 on top of that, well, you can get this beauty:

    https://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Navigator-button-Royal-Black/dp/B009RXUAB0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484273563&sr=8-1&keywords=skullcandy+navigator+headphones

These headphones used to cost $100 at launch, they're now $24.

And for another $10 on top of that, you can afford Beats killers:

    https://www.amazon.com/JBL-Synchros-S300-Headphones-3-Button/dp/B00FF9FOE8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1484273618&sr=8-2&keywords=JBL+s300

I know that $38 is way over budget. But you get awesome build quality, superb bass and clear highs. This is the ultimate V-shaped sound profile headphone on a measly budget.

That said, you can afford a plethora of awesome earbuds for around $10:

    - KZ ED3, ED7, ED9 etc...
    - Aukey earbuds

    You're looking at China earbuds.

EDIT: I searched some more and there are absolutely no headphones worth buying under $20. Even the TASCAM Th 02 are $20. That's another great headphone. The Skullcandy Navigator is probably your best bet. It's an absolute steal for $24.

Hulkbert reacted to Daniel644 in Printers under $150 usd?
well the BIGGEST factor in printing is the cost of ink, We use exclusively Brother AIO printers at work now (even have one for the house), ultimately it depends on your needs, we needed the ability to print on 11x17 paper size and as such we use the larger AIO, a side benefit is those guys also take the LARGER ink cartridges and if you can get one of the generation or 2 older ones they are MUCH more compatible with the aftermarket cartridges then the newer models, like our MFC-J6520DW absolutely HATES aftermarket ink cartridges, with most of them NOT working, but we've used nothing but the aftermarket cartridges in our MFC-J6510DW, we can get a set of ink cartridges that has 2 of each color cartridge (there are 3 separate color cartridges so 6 total color cartridges) and 4 black ink cartridges for 40-45 dollars US from a website called 4inkjets, at those prices it rivals the price per page of LASER printers. but I would note it's not a very good Photo printer, definitely not something if you wanted to print pictures to frame and hang on your wall, but for day to day printing needs it's a work horse.

You CAN act without infos, you jsut want someone else to pass the blame off to if it breaks it.

That being said, I wouldn't suggest doing it. Maybe one PSU for everything, and another for the GPU itself, but I wouldn't mix them.

No. The TX3 is not even close to suitable for OC'ing a 6700K.

What are you looking to do with the CPU? Mild overclock, or push it up past 1.26/1.265v and see how far you can go? Here are some rough suggestions:

Mild OC: Deepcool Gammaxx 400, Cryorig H7
Moderate OC: Cryorig H5 Ultimate/Universal, Noctua NH-U14S, Phanteks TC14PE, 120mm/140mm liquid cooling (only if your case can't support a decent air cooler)
Heavy OC: Noctua NH-D15, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 3, 240mm/280mm liquid cooling
