Looks like its a solid Aluminum piece instead of fins. maybe that's the reason the cooler sucks.

But as for the GPU length, that might be a really tight feet, might consider something like the MSI 970 ?

6+2 means you have a 6P connector with a 2P addon to make it an 8Pin connector, so you are fine. as you have 2 6+2 and you need one 8P and one 6P .

It would would, as for the Case, at the worst case you will need to lose the lower drive cage.

    David_K got a reaction from don_svetlio in Difference between the 7950 and R9 380/x
Well they are not as similar as people think. newer tonga has much lower FP64 performance ratio, A LOT faster tessellation engine, newer video decoder/encoder unit, Smaller memory bus but with memory compression and higher level of DX12 features. also cooler and more efficient thanks to the drop of the FP64 cores.

7950 Vs a 670 IMO the 7950 wil be better in most games today. the 3GB of memory is a nice bonus today and the performance overall should be better.

A 4096 "cores" chip based on GCN performing like almost ~3K Maxwell "cores" , yes, whats next, FX 9XXX is the best GPU it is running 5GHZ OMG FUCK INTEL.

David_K got a reaction from HPWebcamAble in Would a 4GB GTX 960 with an Overclock be VR Ready?
"VR Ready" is not a simple term. but if you go with Oculus rift and its recommendation then you need a 970 at least, and as far as a 960 goes, you can overclock it with water all day and night and it still wont do it.

David_K got a reaction from Dabombinable in PCIe video card for Windows XP Pro gaming rig
Actually a GTX260 (or slower 9800/9600GT) can be great fit for a good Win XP setup games wise, or the more modern 5770/6770/6750/5750 (rebrand) that are also good if priced right (this were the first DX11 cards so if you would want to upgrade the os and run old DX11 you could do that too.

Personally i got a 5750 (outlet) new in the bag without the retail box for like 32 USD  (that is converted from NIS/ILS in my country for comparison ) and here finding cheap stuff is not easy. and that was 3 years ago. so I am sure you can find a decent used 5770 for a good price. this will run every XP era game without a problem with an ~80W use (if I remember correctly).

David_K got a reaction from dalekphalm in nVidia X80, X80ti and X80 Titan rumoured Specs
I really don't understand why people believed this specs are real, Nvidia already launched the BIGGEST Pascal chip that will see this day, granted it might be still not fully unlocked as chips are still not perfect with this kind of chip sizes on a new 16nm process but still, GP100 right now as far as we know is a  3584 shader core part its almost half of what a "X80 Titan" bullshit litst. nvidia wouldn't put out a Tesla that supposed to be used in the best servers this early if it was that much locked due to bad parts.
Also the HBM2 memory clocked at 1.4Gbps so we get 720GB/s of memory bandwidth. higher than listed on the "leaked" specs.
So people. PLEASE STOP BELIVING EVERYTHING THERE IS ON THE INTERNET.

Don't forget the GPU can't write or read the different pools at the same time. it can write one and read the other or the otherway. but not the same operation on both pools.

You're somwhat wrong on the 270, the 270 and 270X are both 7870, but the X is clocked ~120MHz higher out of the box, the R7 370 is actually the return on of the 7850 but clocked higher and with a 4GB or 2GB option, as the original 7850 came with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM.. Just FYI.

David_K got a reaction from profBenjamim in Upgrade from R9 270X to GTX 770
@profBenjamim To be honest I don't see where is the problem as a R9 270X is actually comparable to a GTX950 on Windows, a 770 would be an upgrade as the 270X is comparable to a 760 with today's drivers more than it did when the cards launched, but still it will be small upgrade like going from the 270X to a 280X/380, and i were at your situation with the 270X but decided The real upgrade would be a GTX970 and nothing less (and here the prices are not the "best" either, the 970 costed me more than 450$..)
