2xGTX970 SLI

Macko939

I have 2 questions:

Do you think its worth doing or should I try to save up some more money and go for a single 980?

also

If I already have Gigabyte GTX970:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-NVIDIA-Edition-Graphics-Express/dp/B00NQ862GY

could I run this GTX970 from msi:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GTX-970-Graphics-1076MHz/dp/B00NY23VY8/ref=sr_1_10?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1457515390&sr=1-10&keywords=gtx970

In SLI? I mean a 970 is a 970, right? Or does the manufacturer matter?

You should get slightly more performance out of 2 970's than a single 980ti

i5-6600k @ 4.9Ghz | Corsair H110i GTX + 2 x Noctua NF-A14's | ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger |

Corsair Venegance DDR4 8GB | ASUS GTX 970 Strix |Samsung 840 EVO 240GB + 1TB HDD |

Corsair RM850 | NZXT H440 Black | 2 x Noctua NF-F12 + Corsair AF-140

Brand doesn't mean anything, just look at Linus' dream build log...

It was... interesting, to say the least

Some guy called my office, trying to sell me computers. I just said "oh you mean those little box's with the tv on top? Yeah, our accountant has some". He promptly gave up and hung up the phone lol

Just now, blu4 said:

Single 980ti is around 2x 970 SLI in terms of horsepower without the scaling issues. Go with 980ti.

Thing is, I already have a single 970 in my PC so I'd have to get an extra one to get the SLI.

For a 980 I'd have to save up for a new card. Idk.

I mean in Black Desert in high end mode I get about 40-50 fps which is not exactly what I'd like to see.

Modded SLI, but I have no experience with it.

So then buy a second 970 if you have the money for it. A single 980 isn't that much faster than the single 970.

I currently have 2x 970's and although in the games I play I get around a 15% better performance than a 980Ti at 1440p. I wish I'd sold one and gone for a single 980ti. The issues I end up having are horrendous. To sum it up I will be selling both and getting a Pascal card.

See my Build here!

Intel 6700k -  Strix GTX 1080Ti - Corsair AX760 - Corsair Dominator 16GB 3000MHz - ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

Seagate Barracuda 1TB -  Samsung 120GB 840 - Samsung 840 EVO 250GB - Corsair H100i - Corsair Air 540 White -

Corsair AF120 - 2x Noctua NF-F12 - 3 x Noctua NF-S12

 Dell S2417DG - Dell UH2515H

Sell yours and buy a 980ti. If you can only afford the 980 after selling, I wouldn't bother with the 980 and just get another 970 or a single fury (non-X)
