have a look on your local second hand website. a 8gb stick of basic ddr4 should be able to be picked up for $30 usd and a decent psu (reffer to the psu teir list) should be about the same

having more cores deffinitely is good for streaming and recording, and 16gb of ram is always a good idea. a r7 1700 would be a good plan. A ssd will help system responsiveness and boot times

gaming for under $75 aud. Im crazy I know. so here is the parts list:
a4 4000 and mobo $5
4gb ddr3 $17.50
gtx 260 $20
250gb hdd free
500w psu and case $20
I whacked it all together and it worked!

basically I had 12gb. 8gb came up for sale second hand for 20 aud which is stupid cheap and I had to have it. the board doesn't support 20gb but people had got 32gb working. apparently the only way to get over 16gb to work is 4x8gb sticks. ohh well. 20 bucks for 4gb more ram and a spare dimm is fine by me

all looks great for my. 650 is way plenty so just get that. I would get the gaming x 1070, but its down to your prefference. buy what you like the looks of better

no and yes. I am going to attempt a bios flash. I dont think it is psu related as right after I clear cmos I can get to the bios once, but when it restarts it gets stuck again

im awear its better but I just like it. to be clear I still have both and can just swap them whenever...
its not really a sidegrade. the i5 2400 is considerablly better in things that use all 4 cores (known from own testing as well as research) plus selling the i3 and board meant that I could buy the 290x so deff worth it imo

yeah but everything I do uses 4 threads...
also, I have nothing fast enough to saturate sata 2 and this board still has usb 3. I got the i5 and mobo for 22.50, sold the other stuff for enough to buy me my 290x
