Not much you can do about it. You can try resetting your BIOS or swapping DIMMs to other slots. But at the end of the day, if it's caused by incompatibility, there's no fix.

If this had occurred with sticks that used to work fine together but all of the sudden don't, I'd suggest reinstalling windows. It worked for me. You can partition out 10GB or so of free space and install a clean throwaway Windows in there to see if re-installing would help you.

Hopefully you have something other than Windows 7 Home Premium x64? It doesn't support 20GB physical RAM.

Yea man if the ram isn't exactly the same as what you had previously put in there there could be compatibility issues might I ask why you need this extra ram? Or just because you can?

basically I had 12gb. 8gb came up for sale second hand for 20 aud which is stupid cheap and I had to have it. the board doesn't support 20gb but people had got 32gb working. apparently the only way to get over 16gb to work is 4x8gb sticks. ohh well. 20 bucks for 4gb more ram and a spare dimm is fine by me

well it was 1x8 1600, 1x4 1600 and 2x4 1333.  but that wont work. its now a 8gb 1600, 4gb 1600 and 4gb 1333 all from different manufacturers
