Birthday Present for myself

Hi!

so next week is my birthday and I have saved about 2,000€ (about 2,239 USD,  2,911 CAD) for a complete new System.

I'll have a pcpartpicker list at the end linked for you guys to adjust to your local prices/ best offer.

Currently I am running my Lenovo T440p which is okay for work but it sucks at gaming and it takes a lot of time to build my android apps since it runs on an i5-4300M.

So I am aiming for a nice machine which allows me to do my Android-App builds fast, has enough punch to run emulators, virtual machines since I like to fool around with Linux Systems and has the power to run games at 1440p.

There will be two OS installed: ArchLinux for work and Win10 for fun.

I really don't want a system which blinks/lights up and stuff - therefore the Fractal R5 w/o window! - it should be as silent as possible and should serve me a couple of years

For now I chose these components:

(prices are from amazon.de/geizhals.at which is an austrian/german price comparison site)

processor: i7-6700k 340 €

cooler: noctua nh-d15 89 € (I am a simple austrian, i see austrian products, i buy them :D

motherboard: asus z170-A 150€

memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB DDR4-3000, CL15-17-17-35) 86 €

case: Fractal Design R5 black 99€

ssd: samsung EVO 850 500 Gb 150 € (might be split into two one for my Arch Linux Installation and one for Windows 10)

hdd: WD Green 3TB 105 €

and now the two parts which i can't get my head around:

psu: Corsair RMx 650W  ~110€ (enough???) the RMx 750W would only cost 10€ more (according to this calulator my machine with some future upgrades draws 457W)

additional info: i have some phones running on a powered usb hub, the occasional external 2.5'' external HDD for backups, 1-4 xbox 360 controllers, a mouse and my trusty cherry board mx 3.0 (browns) ot: man I love this keyboard

graphics card: EVGA GTX 1070 SC /FTW ??? or the THE MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 ??? (a 2nd monitor should be ok in the future?)

this should be around 1,580€ (about 1,769 USD,  2,299 CAD) - I still need a new monitor, mine is 10+ years old!

LIST: PcPartPickerList

comments on all parts but especially help with the psu and graphics card is much appreciated, as well where I could save a couple of €.

A recommendation for a nice IPS 144Hz 1440p Monitor would be great but I guess it's OT here.

Thank you guys in advance, greetings from the alps of Austria, and the obligatory "sry for my bad English" :P

The only IPS 1440p 144Hz monitors that come to mind are the PG279Q from Asus

and the Predator from Acer which cost around 800-850€.

And also why hello there Mister fellow Austrian :)

If you are willing to get TN panels the PG278Q would be a good option at 600€.

If you really want an IPS monitor you will probably have to sacrifice some Hz.

The RM650x should be enough for your build.

hi there from the west side of austria :P

I really want to get an IPS.. the cheapest is the  Acer XF270HUbmijdprz, 27" (UM.HX0EE.001) for 500€ but no g-sync

cheapest one (according to geizhals.at) with g-sync is AOC AGON AG271QG, 27" for 700€ and this extends my budget... so what to do - go for a 1080p instead, go down with Hz or get a TN panel..

but the PG279Q is currently 750€ on amazon...

that's a really tough decision to make..

Here is a German shop called Mindfactory that had those in stock. Now they do not but you should send them an email. Their prices are better than amazon usually and they have sales often (got my 278q for less than 600 €). BTW, the tn swift is a 10 bit panel so you lose on the viewing angles but image quality is pretty good.

Main rig: Shockwave - MSI Z170 Gaming 7 MOBO, i7-6700k, 16GB DDR4 3000 MHz RAM, KFA2 GTX 980ti HOF, Corsair RM1000 PSU, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, WD 7200RPM 3TB, Corsair Air 540 White, ASUS P278Q 1440p 144Hz display.

Laptop: Lenovo Y510p, i7-4700HQ, 12 GB (8+4) 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, GT755 2GB SLI graphis card, 1366x768 display.
