Are video games as addictive as drugs? One parental unit in Montreal claims so, and says they have a study to back it up.

I'm on a 480mm HW Labs Black Ice SR2 MP with four Corsair ML120s spinning at low RPM, which pushes air through. Under load, they don't go past ~800-900 RPM, even if I put a 100% load for rendering projects and my CPU temps don't go past 69º average on the package.
 
I'm planning on adding my upcoming GeForce RTX 2080 Ti into my loop, and I do believe that the radiator alone should handle the kinds of load it'll be subjected to while remaining cool and quiet.
 
What's important here is all of my fan curves are based on coolant temperature, where it's more granular and controlled.

If you are going push/pull I would go with the GTX. It is less restrictive on your loop, but also scaled well in the event you need to move a butt ton of heat.
 
Now if you are NEVER wanting to go above 800 rpm then the SR2 is the ultimate low fan speed setup. It will give you great performance at low fan speeds, but you sacrifice performance at higher rpms.

Needs a lot more suspension travel.

Exactly, i love my current setup, got my ML120s down to 500rpm with the arduino pwm signal, everything stays cool and quiet. ?
I know you can hook up a SD card to an arduino to store things and something similar should be possible for a pi, unfortunately i choose the arduino route and you already have a pi but there must be some info out there about people using temp sensors on their pi and how they stored it / displayed it.

Welcome, sounds like you've done enough reading so I'll be happy to help you out. You're actually really on the best way to set up the temperature probe (far better than just an LCD display).
 
The header you should use is actually T_sensor (#15 on the manual). While W_IN and W_OUT can also moniter the temperature, the BIOS won't do anything productive with it. The T_sensor can be used to control fan speed in the BIOS and is an excellent way to control your radiator fans, since you want them to spin up if the water is getting hot, and spin down if the water gets cool again. This is far better as you get a smoother transitions unaffected by sudden spikes in temperatures of the CPU, for example.
 
These 2-pin headers have no polarity so just whack the sensor onto it, I believe its just based on resistance (may be wrong).
