Those suggesting that I complain to Google... Do you think I can just call up Eric Schmidt and let him know I don't like the way they implement ads on YouTube? I laughed out loud.
 
YouTube isn't perfect but it's my best shot at running a viable business here so I can pay my employees and feed my family, so that's what I use. Those of you who opt to consume the content without supporting it, fine you're not "scummy". Come up with your own word for it

I really don't get the whole craze with steam machines. It's just a pc that sits under your tv. It's something that my dad's done for the past 5 years.

5GB/6GB... It's a lot of VRAM to begin with, and yes, when you get into situations where you need that much VRAM, current GPUs don't have enough raw power to get good performance either way, regardless of whether they have a large enough frame buffer or not.  My point was, somehow this has gotten to the point where people think that 1GB per 128-bits is the limit of what a GPU can use, when in reality it is higher.  Not quite 2GB per 128-bits but closer to that than 1GB.  There is no way the 680 Lightning could have used 3GB of RAM, because the 680 Lightning only has 2GB on board.  In any case, GTX 680s come stock at 6.0GHz and could get up to around 3GB; the GTX 770 comes in at 7.2GHz stock which lets you use about 3.2GB-3.4GB.  Not quite the whole 4GB but that's most of it, and still a nice lead over 2GB, so I wouldn't exactly say that the 4GB version is pointless like people seem to be saying these days.

This is a problem we must face! All this memory, but we can't use it all!

Our video wasn't meant to be an advertisement. I told Logan multiple times to NOT say anything about our products, he did anyway.
The video was a quick and dirty video covering some basics in audio with laymens terms. I would need a 2 hour video to explain everything properly and no one wants to watch that.
For everyone calling the video bullshit, please prove me wrong with a proper test and I will eat my words, or my pants, whichever one you want.

If you want to discuss software amplification versus hardware-based amps, I think that probably merits a separate thread where people can answer the question for you.
 
As for really old onboard being bad, It is.
 
As for onboard on low end motherboards being bad, it can be. I'm glad to hear yours is fine.

Who cares. What truth? The Xonar DG is an excellent value at $30. It does what it says it does, puts an amped headphone out in your PC. The OP said as much!

Another issue is this: To everyone recommending O2 or even E10s... They are not in the same price range AT ALL. All that's being done here is pointless crapping on someone else's parade without a SINGLE ONE OF YOU having ACTUALLY offered a comparable solution. Again, shame on you all.
 
 
This is true, but people also get defensive when they feel like they are under attack. The tone of many posts in this thread is very terse and "holier than thou". If you don't want defensiveness, try being kind... The OP's first post is just a happy "yay I'm enjoying this purchase" post, so this doesn't look like a case of "he started it" to me.

EDIT: To be clear I'm aware of the Fiio E6, which would be a comparably priced, and possibly better solution. The problem is that no one else brought it up.
 
Another MAJOR issue here is that no one even asked the OP what onboard sound he has. Sure on a well designed, modern motherboard, onboard audio pops, crackles, and other nonsense is pretty much resolved. What if the OP is running a board that is 3+ years old. Given that this is a PCI sound card we're talking about that seems like a possibility don't you think?
 
I've got boards that age that have OBVIOUSLY worse onboard audio than a cheap sound card. In that case, the $30 Fiio won't help the OP's microphone in, so if a full system upgrade just to achieve better sound isn't an option, maybe a $30 sound card is a great solution. But NO ONE ASKED...

LOL, half of the reason I can get a 290 is because of him too. I was trying to re-apply thermal paste on my 7950 and passed it over to him to help me unscrew a screw, and he slipped and cut a bunch of traces and wrecked the card. But since he has too much pride to say sorry and buy a new card for me, my mother's doing so.

Sure why not? I would, who says they have to go into the same PC? it's $50 a piece and if you used them in two other PC's the 295's would be loads better than any other video solution that costs $50.
