No trolling or flame-bait. This includes topics such as AMD vs NVIDIA, "company X sucks", and religious debates

Actually thermaltake made the most revenue last year(2020) around 30% more than 2019, so no they are not going bankrupt.

Hey ltt team, can I put in a job request as far as custom case mods for the da2 now that you have that CNC mill + ltt engineering guys?

My biggest gripe with this case is the amount of air that you can't pull through the top and bottom fan mounts due to the design, ive gone through a few builds in the case now but I've always had bigger dreams to push what I can fit in it. I've always thought a custom 2008 Mac pro type handle bar/feet would better suit the case as far as air flow would go but paying a large company to produce a one off would be extremely expensive. I'm already $400 into investments in the case(i have all add-ons, including vertical and glass) but I kinda need more out of as far as gpu cooling goes, 6900xt + 60* water temps aren't cool. The glass I don't even use because the magnets on the glass fell off and expoxy failed. I feel bad wanting to spend more money on it but it seems like asking you to finish this build for me may be an enjoyable way to accomplish this.

I'm no 3d designer, so there is definitely work to be done but I think you'd appreciate my build when it works. It's a 5700g + a sadly modded g12 6900xt, I would watercool but space restraints make me hesitant to bother as I might upgrade again for am5 and at that point I'd definitely want more space for a custom loop. I mainly run Manjaro, with windows (and eventually macos) in a VM with the dgpu and two SSDs passed through. If I hadn't used up my second m.2 slot I could still have expanded to a third gpu(m.2>x4 adtlink adapter) to run all three oses at once but that's a dream better suited for am5.

TLDR: Basically i'm a beggar renting out my unobtainium rig for quick and dirty content in exchange for slightly discounting a custom mod with no 3d to back me up.

I own one, currently setting up(adapting) my old vfio configuration. Yes its itx. Yes I paid basically twice its worth. Its worth every nickel, I only wish amd drops a 6900g(12core apu) in 2022. Big dreams ig.

Tho I think in the short term I'll try to oc my cpu again, I'll give my ram plenty of voltage. It's weird, on my itx board I could stable 4.4ghz but stayed on 4.2 to stay under stock voltage. I could even boot 4.8 but now it doesn't want to even hold 4ghz. Hopefully the issue was my ram, ig I have Thanksgiving plans now

The Xeon counterparts are actually binned higher, they seem to oc nicely. I talked to a guy who used the same setup as me and he shared his experience/ocing results with me. So as long as I can hit 4.2ghz I should match single core performance with my current i5 when it was oced.

I get plenty high fps, it's just I get mean stuttering if I don't cap it to 60 and I get stutters with that in intense fights or areas with lots of visuals. It sits in the hundreds @ 2560x1080

I ripped most of my windows 10 install apart. No update, defender is dead for now, and the store somehow resurrected itself. In the least, it might be my something in the background but I don't see anything out of the ordinary besides my cpu being maxed. Which is why I concluded that multitasking while playing this well optimized game is too taxing on my PC.

But all I needed was someone to agree that my logic is sound enough.

ATrollAaaNnnnn reacted to sh4z in 4670k upgrade
i5 4670k to 4770k isn't much of an upgrade, hyperthreaded processor cores don't scale 100%. 4930k/3930k is better, but ni no Kuni II's recommended specs are ivy bridge i7 3770k or AMD FX-8350 ... You're not far off that with the i5 so it should be playable, getting more cores than you need is a good thing which will help your multi tasking out.

I'd pick the 4930k over the Xeon e5 1650v1/v2.. Xeon's don't overclock as easily, and the 4930k is clocked slightly higher. The x79 based board will be a much better platform for expansion, but the parts are quite a bit more expensive. (Processor and board mainly, don't go quad core if your using socket 2011 lol)

24gb of RAM looks like you're over the 8GB recommended, so that's fine ... and the GTX1070Ti isn't exactly a slouch either, it's already double the requirements of that game. OC to CPU with more memory might need more voltage to your RAM to remain stable, even if your not overclocking it. (I Had this issue with my Haswell rig, 4770k @ 4.2-4.4Ghz requires 1.56v for 1600MHz (32GB kit) Typically you can avoid this if you buy matched sets of RAM (Like a 4 pack that has been validated at the required speed) that doesnt gaurantee it will work though.

What are you doing in the background for it to lag? You can try running it Fullscreen windowed mode and see if that nets you any benifit ( I guess your running dual screen or more since your multitasking), also disable the Fullscreen Optimizations in the advanced properites for the game and see if that helps.

Also Turn off Xbox Game Bar if your running Windows 10, that will increase FPS as well.

I used to have the CH6 it got replaced with a CH7 through an RMA process but as long as you update the BIOS to the latest version then you should not have a problem with that ram, X370 RAM incompatibilities have come a long long way.  I had RAM issues with my Corsair Vengeance LED 2x16gb 3000MHz kit initially, but with the latest bios updates, it is no longer an issue. So I would feel safe with the CH6. But you might as well just save the money and go for a 3000Mhz or 3200MHz kit, the money spent getting a 3600MHz kit or faster is better spent on other components.

    to high-end boards like these?
and don't get me wrong, I know that the newer boards are better than the old ones in many dimensions. It's just this (subjective) impression that the older ones were giving you the best they had at the time, while the new ones seem to be saving a few tricks in the sleeves, or making more design vs. performance compromises.

ATrollAaaNnnnn reacted to Egg-Roll in Luke leaving LMG?
This is why Linus is a bad owner... he's made it so it sounds like Luke has to quite. He does not have to quit if he quits then he should not be going to Floatplane as it is also owned by Linus. Simple explanation is due to how the record of employment is set up in Canada.

in section 16 is where you put a Code.
    The Codes are:
    A - Shortage of work
    B - Strike or lockout
    C - Return to school
    D - Illness or injury
    E - Quit
    F - Maternity
    G - Retirement
    H - Work-Sharing
    J - Apprentice training
    M - Dismissal
    N - Leave of absence
    P - Parental
    Z - Compassionate care/Family Caregiver
    K - Other

While E on the website does include finding a new job, he didn't really find this job, it was given by Linus who then decided to convert his payroll over to his other company segregating the companies into 2 different entities. This is why I don't think E should show up on his ROE but K, as it is more like a "forced" transfer to another company owned by Linus. Forced as is in if Luke said no to quitting (transfer of pay from one company to another) Linus would of had to fire him then rehired him as a Floatplane employee. On the site is says "change in payroll/ownership or company name", while LMG is not changing names technically it is a change in payroll, while a different company it is ultimately still Linus who is paying him. The best answer to put is K with "Transferred/Promoted to Floatplane as COO".

By saying he quits and the government looks into it they could get audited, why? Because they just put a person who quit from LMG as a COO for Floatplane, with section K no one has to quit, no one has to pay out severance and no issues with anything with insurance. At one of my last workplaces there was talks about sending me to a different workplace owned by the same person, they decided not too due to the confusion of the paperwork and they couldn't afford in losing me

Edit (this line only): Also i would like to point out no one can legally force someone to quit by any means in canada, even joking about it on the WAN show could get Linus fined. Remember the Gov just doesn't care. They don't. Regardless if the pay is better with the other company one still can't force it. Imagine if Luke had a Mortgage or personal debt (like a credit card, like has one or the other), he might have to report the change to them and because the word quit was used with such a new company as FP they could request stupid things. Once again no one cares what the intentions are of Linus.
The goal is to move out of the LMG warehouse/office. They will still be in the same building for a while, likely another year or 2.

This will pose issues in canada as now Luke will be (on monday) an FP employee, the second he touches LMG stuff he has to be either contracted out "personally" and not paid by FP OR contracted out by FP to LMG where LMG pays FP for Lukes time. If they don't do one of these things or have a contract in place stating Luke has to show up upon called and will be paid accordingly (aka he can't quit then w/o a very complex contract upon leaving), it could quickly become a labour/legal issue. This is simply because one could assume he is taking money from FP and using said time/funds for other stuff to profit another company, this company is LMG, the gov doesn't care if both are owned by Linus, they care about the fact this will or has happened.

Simply put once Luke does work for LMG on FP time he will be doing basically this w/o writing stated otherwise. Linus should address this to us as well to ensure no further confusion happens. Because the last thing Linus (or anyone) wants is the gov poking around slowing down work.

I'd take eSata and Bluetooth over USB-C and WiFi any day. I simply have a use for the former, none for the latter. Heck, I'd take two LAN ports over wifi.

Still, I agree wholeheartedly with your OP. There were a couple interesting boards for X370, but right now, if I were buying, the Gigabyte one would be the only one in my radar. Aesthetics are subjective, but from my subjectiveness those chunky heatsinks are not only horrendous, but give me the impression of being counter-productive (again, impression, not sure how effective they are, although I remember der8auer's comment on some X299 boards...).
Maybe I just have an old-fashioned taste for motherboards; still, that's my taste

PS: forgot about USB 2.0. Unfortunately, backward compatibility between 3.0 and 2.0 was never perfect, nor fixed. But this one has plenty of headers, so it can be amended.
