Hmm, well where I work the place is filled with 50+ and so is my father, who also works in IT. In fact in senior technical positions and positions of higher authority those are dominated by 45+ aged persons.
 
My father also happens to be an ex-electrician (still has limited registration), ex-licensed radio technician, ex-electronics repairer servicing all kind of things including the first giant near room sized HDDs and has been in the IT industry for over 25 years now, currently senior database administrator. Basically yea he and others of his age have an extremely good grasp of the internet, in fact more so than most.
 
Some of the most clueless in regards to computers and internet in general that I have meet are between the ages of 15 to 35, but even then age itself as nothing to do with that.

You kids these days.  Back in my day your computer was obsolete before you finished installing your games on it.  You've been spoiled by a plateau that dragged on from Sandy Bridge to Kaby Lake where all you had to do was upgrade your GPU every 2-3 years and it was all good.

There's still a rumoured 8 core Coffee Lake in the pipeline isn't there? But the lack of core count growth was likely for reasons other than technical ones.

Sounds like it's booting off the installation media. When it reboots, take out the USB or CD which you used to install.

Check if all the standoffs are in the correct place. 1 might be touching something.

Why not leave the Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom. Like this you just come in to the bath room, his the power button, and your phone should auto-connect to it, and you just hit the play button. If it is because you only have 1, you can get a cheap'ish one for the bathroom, I mean you don't care about sound quality per se.. the heavy echo from the bathroom ruins it all to start with.

I have the Enthoo Evolv ATX Tempered Glass edition.  It's sexy as hell, good build quality, and easy enough to build in.  Another slightly cheaper option would be the NZXT S340 Elite:  A slightly more minimal approach, but still tempered glass, good looks, and solid build quality.
