Test bench works but doesn't work in the case

So I got my new motherboard and ram today. I built weverything up and put it all in the case only too find out that the LED's blink once, no fans spin and then nothing after pressing the power button.

Then I decided too take everything out and make a test rig too see if my parts work. I set it all up and yes everything posts and lights up and I get into the bios.

So what's the problem here? Is it the standoffs in the case? When I was putting my mobo in the case the screws didn't seem too fit the standoff screws perfectly but with a few form pushes as I screwed some screws in they all seemed too go in the standoff screws fine. Another thing is that I didn't change or touch any of these standoff screws and they worked just fine for my pervious mobo. My case is the NZXT H440.

Thanks :)

If the motherboard didn't fit in nicely, most likely there is something in the wrong place opposing some resistance. It could be a pre-installed standoff that doesn't match any hole in your motherboard, touching the PCB instead. That would cause a short, and therefore the behavior you observed.

Check the cables, it's difficult to get the CPU power cables towards the top. also check that the motherboard is only touching the standoffs, it will not short anything there.
