iPhone to Remove home button!

Although the middle button was a major feature for the iphone I think its good that its going. Make way for thinner phones that people really dont care about.

 

Subsequent reports on Monday pegged the earliest launch date for a home-button-less iPhone at 2017.

The company is reportedly developing a new chip that will allow fingerprint sensing directly from the touchscreen.

The iconic physical button that has been a feature of every iPhone to date will likely stick around for a year or two yet, with the touch and display driver integration (TDDI) technology needed to shift its functionality to the touchscreen still being developed.

My G2 has no buttons to speak of (aside from the power and volume on the back). Once buttons are on screen with haptic feedback, you instantly stop caring about physical buttons.

Meh, Android's had onscreen home buttons for quite a while.

I actually don't know how I'd feel about that. On the one side, I really do like feeling of the home button. On the other, the bezel on iPhones is so fucking huge, it could bare to lose some size.

maybe a little of topic, but it is related to the home button in some way.

 

Apple should look at ther iOS UI design instead of hardware design in my opionion

 

Their hardware design has always been decent/good. (Jony Ive, you're a design monster!)

 

However their solution for the iPhone 6+  to make it useable with one hand by tapping the home button twice and shoving the screen down has been the ugliest and worst software solution since the death of Jobs. If he could raise himself from the grave he'd kick the bottom of the guy who thought this was acceptable.

 

The real problem here is the fact that iOS places the back button in the top left corner, unlike Android which places it at the bottom, for easy thumb access.

 

With a 3.5 to 4 inch screen it is acceptable but when working with screensizes of 5 and 5.5 inch it's just impossible to hold the phone with comfort.

they could just keep the ring, and scanner and make it a force touch button like the new macbook trackpad, so it will feel the same, but there's no button that wears out

Apple launches a new flagship every year, Samsung has got 3 flagships (apple 2 i guess) and htc also 2 but they dont launch at the same time so I guess Apple coming out with the krast amount of phones.. Dont hate just because you wanne hate..

They release a new phone once a year. Samsung and most other companies release phones far more frequently than Apple. 

 

And I hope they don't remove the home button. I hate on screen buttons. I like the tactile feel of a real button. Plus TouchID is the best phone feature in years.
