So Uh... I Have an XBOne

Mushious
Go to solution Solved by felixbearpig,

why dont you just stand  your ps4 up and put the XBO beside it?

Hayo...

I'm kinda really good at winning competitions, and just won a MC Collection Xbox One pack from a local store, came with Forza NH2 and a couple of downloadables...

Thing is I already have a PS4 (which I also won), and don't have much space around my TV. Would it be fine to sit the consoles on top of each other?

Here's what I have to work with... what do...

It should be just fine to set them on top of each other unless you're putting one on top of an exhaust for another

The Xbox has the vent at the top, the PS4 does not, so as long as the Xbox is on top it's fine.

Yes, they can be stacked as long as the Xbox One is on top, because the PS4 draws in air from the side while the Xbox One draws in air from the top.

Keep in mind it's not going to look pretty though, as the Xbox One is bigger.

I believe air is actually pushed out from the top. It would restrict the xbox, but I don't think terribly, although don't have both on at the same time as the PS4 could overheat.

xbone on top, and ps4 on the bottom and you will be fine, or you can get a crude 4 pole and top stand and have that over the ps4 for the xbone

How do you have such luck? Wanna be my friend . :P

/shrug, all I do is enter every competition on offer.

I would prefer the PS4 on top, might have to look at getting something to elevate it so the xbox has breathing room..

Don't sit them on top of each other because it'll restrict airflow.

NO

BOTH OF YOU

NO

FUCK NO

The xbone has the same poorly made disc drive issues that the 360 one had that caused class action suits (that ms ignored and continue to make anyway) that if you put ANYTHING on top of these or move them when running, you risk destroying discs and potentially the drive.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I still don't get what you're trying to say.

If Xbone is on top of PS4, there is nothing that will be on top of it, and nothing to move it while it's in operation.

I don't see the issue here, it's not like the table is going to be moved while they're on or that more than one would be on at a time...

could kill the ps4s drive...much less likely I would think though

And the ps4 produces a lot of heat on the outside, not good to put even the non-ventilating parts on top of each other.

I'm talking about the Xbox One. It intakes one side, and exhausts through top and the other side (on the right, closest to the fan on top)

you could solve this problem by simply sending it to me. i'll PM you with shipping details.

and you know, you can put each of them vertically.... just saying. that would give them both space.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Do you even have an Xbox One? Then turn it on and put your hand over the top. You will just feel the cold air being sucked in magically become hot for no reason. If you want to argue, learn the first thing about air. It intakes one side, and exhausts through top and the other side (on the right, closest to the fan on top)

Open your xbox one, you'll see the fan is facing upwards.

I don't personally but I've seen one disassembled on a friends desk, I know for sure the motor faces the top of the unit so the blades must be reversed (not uncommon on OEM PCs) so that's were I got confused.
