AMD or Intel?

4820K is bad value. Just get a 4770K like everyone does... Or i5 4670k for even better value.

The 4820K is not worth the money. Get the i7 4770K, or an i5 4670K.

If you have the budget go with the 4770k, otherwise a 4670k should suit you just fine, especially with the titles you're playing.
Invest more into the graphics card, that's where you'll really notice the difference.

Neither.

You'd want better single thread performance than a 9590 for WoW and there's no point going lga 2011 for gaming.

You'd be better off with a 4670k.

FX-8320....much better price and most of them will reach 4.7ghz anyway...no need to pay AMD to do the overclocking for you.

No, check what games he plays. Intel's per core performance is up to 100% faster as proved here: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/screenshots/original/2013/09/SC2HotS-pcgh.png

A i3 would be even a better value in his case than a 8320

oh come on...100% better...sure...make it more like 30% AT MOST...and a dual core? for gaming? in 2014? you're ridiculous.

30%? What are you on about. A 8350 IPC isnt even better than a nehalem from 2008: http://anandtech.com/bench/CPU/344

Any reasons why the i5 scores extremely close to a 8350 in cinebench multithreaded? Unless you wont believe that 4 by 2 isnt 8 well..

Another review showing a 100% gain in games and none of those games take advantage of more than 4 cores so i7=i5 there: http://vr-zone.com/articles/amd-fx-8350-vs-intel-core-i7-3770k--4.8ghz--multi-gpu-gaming-performance/17494.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+vr-zone+(VR-Zone+%7C+Coolest+Gadgets+for+Men%2C+Geek%2C+Nerd%2C+Overclockers+and+Enthusiast)

Here in this review we see the same thing happening and the i5 with a single 7970 even outperforms a 8350 with two/three 7970's: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7189/choosing-a-gaming-cpu-september-2013/8

You say that, but Blizzard is notorious for making games that focus on single/dual centric cpus.

To OP:

Go with the Intel. Unless you're doing some heavy parallel floating pt calculations or looking for good VM performance, I wouldn't recommend AMD's FX models.

Hello.

I'm building my own gaming desktop, and I don't know which processor I should buy. I play BF4, minecraft, LoL, CoD, WoW and heartstone.

Which one of these two are best for gaming?

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-fd9590fhhkwof

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80633i74820k

Thanks! :)

WoW runs pretty bad in 25 man raids with mods etc on AMD. I5 K is all you need. Wildstar will be the same deal. Primarily a 2 core game and 40 man raids means AMD will mostly likely be even slower than it is in WoW. Guild Wars 2? AMD is flat out horrible. That game is like I5 k or go home for world pvp. The only MMO the AMD runs fairly well compared to Intel is ESO and that game is horrid. I3 Ivy beats a 8350 slightly in ESO. The 9xxx are just overclocked 8320/50's.

https://forums.wildstar-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35360-guide-building-or-upgrading-your-system-for-wildstar/

MMO's = Above I5 K = overkill, I5 K> I5>I3> fastest you can clock an AMD and 6 core/8 core doesn't matter

BF4? I7 might run 1-3 fps faster depending how big you go on GPU. It is barely noticeable. AMD is fine for BF4.

AMD can come close to Intel I5's in most single player and many new shooters though. If you are streaming a lot of guild video in WoW and rendering a lot of videos? Go I7. If not? Go I5 and spend rest on GPU.

LoL, minecraft etc. AMD is fine at. Intel has higher fps, but AMD is good to go.

CPU:24/7-4770k @ 4.5ghz/4.0 cache @ 1.22V override, 1.776 VCCIN. MB: Z87-G41 PC Mate. Cooling: Hyper 212 evo push/pull. Ram: Gskill Ares 1600 CL9 @ 2133 1.56v 10-12-10-31-T1 150 TRFC. Case: HAF 912 stock fans (no LED crap). HD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB. Display: Dell S2340M IPS. GPU: Sapphire Tri-x R9 290. PSU:CX600M OS: Win 7 64 bit/Mac OS X Mavericks, dual boot Hackintosh.

Both chips are overpriced. Either get an FX 8350 or a 4670K and get a more powerful graphics card instead of spending more on the CPU.

+1...i would even suggest an FX-8320...my FX run at 4.7ghz...no need to pay AMD to do the overclocking for you it's the same chip.

If for some reason you really want to stick with intel i would suggest a core i5-4570 it's good enough too.

The 8320 is a phenomenal chip. $30 cheaper than the 8350 and overclocks nearly just as well. Converting CPU savings into better performing GPUs is always a great approach in my book.

Yep. Get the 8320 and save for a better video card. You can't go wrong with that processor.
