FInal Verdict, a project for 2080 Ti owners

Turtle Rig

So guys whats the final verdict as the title says, how is the 2080 GTX @ 4k resolution is what I wanna know and Im sure some other people as well.  Does it sustain 60fps at all times,, or does it dip to 50's or 40's .. this is with all nvpanel options on high quality and all set to max and in game set to max settings.

1) the 2080ti is not the same card as the 2080

2) Neither the 2080ti nor the 2080 are GTX, they are RTX cards

3) many things other than resolution matter, such as what other computer hardware you're using, what game you're running, what quality settings you're using, etc.

4) If you set all settings to max then you can make any GPU get below 10fps. Some things like AA or DSR can be turned up to unreasonable amounts. Nobody games at 64x AA or 8K DSR.

5) Did you know that you can find hundreds of benchmarks already on the internet? There are these people called "reviewers", for example, Linus, that test the cards so that you can see the performance results.

Benchmarks are a thing.

The RTX 2080 Ti is an absolute powerhouse, ripping apart multiple games at over 60 fps at 4K HDR on the highest settings, but the difference between the RTX 2080 and the GTX 1080 Ti is quite small.

it's more like a 80fps card on ultra, with some adjustments, it's closer to 90-100fps on most games, 4k/100hz is all i need for years. TBH i'd rather have an extra 20% so the card doesn't ever have to run at 100%, but gotta take what's given/

Sighs xg32 if they came out with a 144hz 40" 4k I would give this monitor to my old man and buy the 144hz, but sh*T it also has to be curved,, sighs,,,,, When is this going to happen who knows LOL ........

ive been a wide gamut fan since the first one NEC made back over a decade ago...the 2080 ti just happened to come out with those 4k/144 gsync monitors, but since the monitor's port is limited to 98hz on 4:4:4 i decided to jump in. Best case for you, since you haven't pulled the trigger yet, is to wait for a card that runs 120hz (probably the 3080 ti) + a more mature 4k/144 monitor (make sure it's dp1.4a, it'd likely match on release dates, i'd say about 18-24months from now (thats why i didn't wait)

The 2080ti is the most powerful and best performing card out there. Theres no denying that. So if thays what you need and want the best experience at 4k then it's the one to go for!

As for cost, well that's subjective.

Theres a lot of butt hurt 1080ti owners about lol because they're always the ones moaning and making stupid memes on reddit.. basically nobody ever moaned about the price of titan cards. They were what they were and if they couldnt afford it theyd buy the TI variant instead. But nope they release the TI version first without any signs of a titan and everyone shits the bed..

Yeah 2080tis aren't cheap.. but that doesn't make them bad cards.. nor has rtx or dsll proven itself yet so its early days.

But again if you want the best performing card at 4k then grab a 2080ti.

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

Laptop: MacBook Pro M1 512gb

I use hard to run games with built in benches to get a good idea how my hardware is doing.  Assassin's Creed Origins is what I use now for testing.

With my mix of ultra to high settings at 4k resolution I am getting an average of 66 fps.

My single GTX 1080 ti did 61 fps.

I also use Shadow of Mordor for testing. With everything at ultra the average frame rate is 86.68fps at 4k.

To test the difference between my 2 computers I use Metro Last Light. I set the resolution to 1440 16:9. All Ultra settings.

The RTX  2080 ti averages  = 95.46fps (i7 8086k)

The GTX 1080 ti in SLI  = 101.76fps (i7 8700k)

On my GPU usage tests the RTX is only averaging 54% at 4k. My GTX 1080 ti averages 74%. CPU usage is the same with both cards.

Right now the RTX 2080 ti is underperforming. So did Pascal for the first couple of months.

I am really happy so far since none of my games are stuttering or suffering from really low frame rate. I got both with the Pascal launch.
