Your opinion needed on my first build... (±2500$ peripherals included)

Go to solution Solved by dizmo,

So I went to the site you're ordering from, since the prices there will be a lot different than what you can find on Amazon and I'm not sure if Amazon will ship to you, and if they do, the cost.

Here's what I, personally, would do if I was in your shoes. I included the case and the other things that you originally had, as I figured those were what you wanted preference wise and honestly you should go with what you want and not what other people consider better.

I left the video card unnamed. Honestly they're all right around the same. The EVGA card is a very formidable card. The Asus tended to bench the lowest of the reviews I quickly glanced at. I put a 500 euro price in, as an average between the 4 available.

I went with an Asus board as I find they're usually really solid. Since you don't plan on over clocking, or running 2 GPU's I went with a lower end board that still has the features you'd want.

You can go to a SLI capable Asus board for another 40 euros.

I went with dual channel 16gb of RAM as I think video editing/rendering will make good use of it. That said I don't know next to nothing about that kind of thing. You can save money with a dual channel 2x4gb kit.

No need for a closed loop water cooler if you're not over clocking. Last time I checked into coolers I remember the Shuriken faring extremely well, only a couple degrees off of a Noctua. You don't really need one (unless the 4770 doesn't come with one in the box), so you can save 35 euros there.

The build came to about 1700 euros. You could save a bit going with the cheapest 780 (-15 euros), a 1tb drive (-20 euros), Samsung 120gb SSD (-70 euros).

I thought I'd suggest an IPS monitor if you're doing video work. Doesn't have to be anything fancy.

If someone suggests a mechanical keyboard and it's something you're interested in, spend the money to buy one of those little test kits. Then you'll get a sample of what each switch feels like.
Of course, going to a store and checking them out is best, not sure if you can do that in your area. Browns, blues, blacks, greens, reds. Everyone has an opinion on which one's best, but it really comes down to what YOU like.

Hey guys

I live in Belgium (a little country in Europe) and I'm 15 years old and obsessed with computers...(and excuse me for my bad English)

I'm planning to do my first gaming pc build, I have no experience with building computers. I watched a lot of GPU,CPU,Case reviews and so on... The computer i want needs to handle games like Battlefield 4,Planetside 2 and heavily modded minecraft (FTB and Tekkit), I also use Blender for making 3d renders (the render time on my old laptop is like 3-4 days for 20 seconds of 3d rendering). So i came up with this build (±2500$ peripherals included) and now i hope you want to give your opinion on it:

do you really notice a difference or have you ever tried a 120/144h panel? If not, take advice from a xl2411t owner (me) and get a high res (1440p) ips panel instead.

I don't really understand what refresh rate is... they say higher is better.

CPU cooler; would probably be better if you got an air one.

Besides, if you're not overclocking, use the stock one. It lasts longer.

It's how many fps your monitor can handle. Most people are fine with 60 Hz (max 60 fps). Anything on top is really superfluous.

lol you can play bf4 on ultra with that card and get 60fps. thats why i mean you should get a 1440p panel , those only have 60hz due to bandwidth limitations.
