Hey guys, since this most recent cryptomining craze at the end of last year I been keeping tabs on Nicehash and within the past to week profitability has nearly doubled, to 2/3 of what I was seeing back in January (on a gtx 1050), specifically the Lyra2rev2 algorithm, so could we see a new mining craze yet again? (I am earning nearly 0.00011 bitcoin a day right now).

I believe I speak for most of the PC enthusiasts when I say "I hope not".

GPUs are just starting to reach MSRP and stock is starting to return to normal, the last thing we need now is a new mining craze to end all that....

Nah, all miners need to leave. They've fucked up our GPU market once, each and every one of them. We really don't want that to happen again with the 11 series.

It probably gear back up in the Fall and Winter.  The small time miners are bit like folders and boincers.  It is rough to run all the gear during the Summer months.  Along with some areas that increase electrical cost during Summer months because of the load.

UPDATE!  Mining efficiency in Bitcoin!

So today mining efficiency for my 1050 has reached nearly 0.00013 Bitcoin a day, that is 4/5 of early January of this year, with the possibility of new GPUs in the near future, we could easily see new mining craze in the next few months.

Ok I guess that those previous #'s were due to network instability, the profitability has fallen by ~40% since the last update.

So you assume PC enthusiasts are not miners? Keep digging! You do not have to agree with mining, that is your choice, but being a PC enthusiast is what got me into mining. I do not really game, but I do enjoy putting a PC together. Markets are what markets are. That said, if you cannot find a new GPU for your umpteenth build I have a few I'll sell you for a small markup ;) (slight wear and tear due to mining). Supply and demand drives markets my friend. I really don't understand what's the point of this section.

Everytime people try to discuss about mining it's always going to be hated anyway.

I didn't say "mining should stay dead" or "all miners should die". I said "I hope it doesn't."

You said you speak on behalf most pc enthusiast which is bullshit

Just say you speak for yourself, it doesn't hard.

But then again, it doesn't matter either way. You are moderator, and this is mining section which you should encourage people to have discussion in first place, not the other way around.

I'm not doing anything to discourage discussion, I was just giving my opinion.

How is this isn't discouraging discussion ?

" GPUs are just starting to reach MSRP and stock is starting to return to normal, the last thing we need now is a new mining craze to end all that.... "

How or what meaning is that to your for all the people are going to read it?

I know what you stated, I can read. I am just pointing out that you are lumping an entire category of people into your biased opinion. You made a very bold statement, now please back it up with facts. What if the mining "craze" got more people into learning how to put a PC together because now they have a purpose for doing so?
