The internet is ran by a small number of companies as well, and they ain't using the same shit freeware that desktop users use.

It has the same kernel and mostly the same software as those "shit freeware that desktop users use", so yes it is linux like it or not. Just as the wast majority of bussiness/consumer networking gear runs on linux(AP's, router's, firewall's, NAS's, etc....). Its funny how many ppl like you boast "linux is unstable" without realizing how wrong they are and how much they depend on it without knowing :D .

I'm still on 16.04 but have already popped in a different drive (upgrade either way) and have downloaded and made an 18.04 installer just haven't gotten around to it

You know you can upgrade with reinstalling.

I upgraded my work laptop from 17.10 to 18.04 this morning.

Of course, I just also have a better drive to upgrade to anyway

Agreed.  I deal with switches, routers, NAS, SAN, and an 24/7 Linux server and client setup.

Saying Linux distros are unstable is very uninformed statement.

Actually, learning Linux commands helped my butt a lot when I had to troubleshoot a netApp SANs, and reconfigure a file storage mount point in a Sat node's router so I could upload a larger configuration file.
