That's a court of law in the United States.. not a private company hiring, no such thing. They absolutely could have not hired this guy.

PIA: So the guy is accused of embezzlement and fraud. He also "lost" hundreds of millions of dollars worth of BitCoin. Yeah let's give this guy the keys to our company!

 

I'm all for giving people second chances. But a second chance doesn't have to mean promoting that guy to one of the top positions of a company. PIA watches your back... but they should be watching their backs too.

Because your full information is linked to the cloud service you're using, and there is no incentive for them to say "no" if authorities ask for the data, you're very much exposed. I use my VPN primarily to protect from packet sniffers and as a "screw you" to my ISP on data harvesting, but I still like that I'm truly anonymous and have all my data scrambled. I'm not saying your solution is bad. It's just not the best in my opinion. Especially considering I split my VPN with family members who aren't exactly tech savvy. Simplicity is necessary if your 60 year old mother wants to use something on her phone and computer.

I literally can't load anything google, videos, youtube, docs, etc on weeknight sometimes unless I use a vpn on my 100 megabit symmetric connection. (Blocking the ips of the caching servers of my isp is an option to, but they change and I don't feel like finding out. ) I set up a much faster openvpn vps for this though.

You can rent a VPS out of Germany using bitcoins. I pay $20/yr for 10Gb at 1TB/month. Also all you need to do is drag a file to your phone or laptop and that’s it

That's not really an option in the US. PIA's anonymous payment methods are pretty unique here.

What do you mean I am in the US and pay with bitcoins. You can rent a VPS just about anywhere. You could even just find someone to host it on their PC

I find Vultr to be better then Digital Ocean, used both, and Their is a option for a $2.5/m one but I am not sure if everyone can do that.

 

CPU, RAM, bandwidth

1 CPU, 512MB, 512GB = $2.5/m (this can not be used with pre made application images)

1 CPU, 1GB, 1TB = $5/m (you can spin up a openVPN setup in 1 click)

 

But the main point is that you can rent a VPS with BTC in the USA.

what we will never know if what if he's amazing -- it's totally possible the man took the blame for someone under him who made the mistake. That's what a GOOD leader does. And that's a person I can respect.

I'm more inclined to believe that with his recent efforts to side with the people who just want their bitcoins back from the mt gox incident rather than the current thing the Japanese government is doing with the coins (selling them off to exchanges, causing BTC value to dip each time). and giving people $ value for what they had You can tell this man might actually care about his customers.... his hands are; however, tied.
