Apparently, the 2nd round of the NCIX auction has a lot more stuff that wasn't sold at all at the 1st auction. Plus there is some stuff that didn't sell the first time.

Whats interesting is now Youtube has decided to not give play buttons to everyone anymore. You can "Apply" for one and that's it.

Presumably the metric is much easier to “achieve” since there are more people watching videos now. 

 

So rather than increase the milestone, they make you apply so they weed out people who can’t be assed?

I guess so. Apparently they will review each one that applies before sending a button.

Likely so they can manually review the channel and actually check for things like bot subs.

Well I wasn't suggesting that I was going to bid.  I just figured maybe a couple 1080Tis would cover the debt they owed me.

 

But my bank finally refunded me (after 3 months) so I'm not as bitter now.

I don't think so - Linus talked about his discussions w/ Mindchop during a few WAN shows - after asshole fanboys started to attack the kid - and Linus clearly said that the kids MCN was shitty and basically just didn't follow through when he didn't receive the Button. They essentially abandoned him.

 

I also have no confirmation on when they started manually reviewing each Play Button application.

Yes but if those rules have been revised or amended, we wouldn't know, nor would we know when any new rules took affect.

 

Either way, I'm not convinced the kid paid for bot subs. There's not enough evidence to suggest that.

I find auctions fascinating. Those people paying insane amounts for useless crap (at least that the knew was worth less) were just trying to outbid the other people.

At least things like Storage Locker auctions are interesting because sometimes they get gold (like, a desk drawer has some antique inside worth $50K, etc)
