What's your favourite attribute of your computer?

Daniel Z.

For me, it's silence. It isn't audible with K7xx on at 20 and higher volume and without headphones, it is like a very faint whisper. Second is probably my monitors.

I'm talking LAN to LAN communications (private network) not LAN to WAN (ISP) communications.  Just to clarify.

Before we upgraded our internet, our ISP was Windstream and we got our internet through the Cat3 phone line. Our internet was equal to a T2 line with 6Mbit down, 3Mbit up. Before that we actually had T1 with 1.5Mbit down and 750Kbit up. That service is still being offered today in my area. So believe me when I say be grateful you have a 20/8mbit plan

Mismatched SLI Bridges

I have 1080 Ti's in SLI and instead of getting a fancy HB bridge I just grabbed the rigid Asrock bridge that came with my motherboard and the flexible Asus ROG bridge that came with my brother's board to make my own frankenstein HB bridge.

The 20 down and 8 up isn't the real turd in the situation.  The real turd is that we are paying for 100 down.  Suddenstink (Suddenlink) very rarely performs as it should.  Rumors of class action lawsuit abound in this area now.

That can be chucked up to being either they're lying about what they're selling you, or so many people are using it in your area that their infrastructure cannot handle it so you see severely reduced performance.

Being able to run UEFI applications straight from either an internal drive or an external drive.

May not be very special, but I came from an old laptop which used a BIOS and was dual-booting Windows; whenever Windows updated it would overwrite the bootloader.

I'd have to boot into a live cd and fix the bootloader from there before being able to use my linux installation.

Now I can just hold ESC to get to the Startup Menu, select Run UEFI Application, navigate to and select grubx64.efi and boot into my linux installation to fix the bootloader and continue using it as normal

Desktop: HP Z220 Workstation, 12 GB RAM, 2x500 GB HDD RAID0, + GTX 1060 3GB

Laptop: ThinkPad T430, 8 GB RAM, 1x120 GB SSD
