DUDE SO DANK ILL BUY

$900 because it's no longer produced, INSTANTLY making the price octuple! (Amazon logic)

Large upgrade from your dual 760s, Think of it like this. 760+760=1520, which is lower than 3870. The 3870 is better

Well according to this scientific review of flame decals they add torque, not speed. The computational power is increased while the clock speed remains the same. 50fps is just a low ball of the extra speed you can expect from these flame decals, the formula goes something like this

Surface area of flame decal = S: Original computational power = C: Original surface area of GPU = G

G+S(2)

______   + C

    C

Basically you take the percentage of the surface area compared to overall computational power, and factor in that any surface area covered with a flame decal counts as 3x the performance of regular uncovered surface area compared to the overall computational power, then you add that to the original computational power. While it's different for every card, with this one you can expect an increase of at least 50fps, usually more but if some of your flame stickers start to peel up they no longer increase speed for that amount of surface area peeled up.

And now I'm pissed because every last one of my motherboards with 2 ISA slots and a relatively modern CPU (K6-2 500, Celeron 300A, Celeron 333A) have dead caps preventing me from using them.

That bites. Not to toot my own horn, but every mobo I have is in good shape as far as caps go. Even though my Slot 1 rig has clear coat so thick on some parts it's white.

I scrapped the bottom of the barrell with nearly every single bad cap manufacturer  :( . The good news is that they'll all be getting polymer capacitors (starting with my Abit VP6 or my Jetway 994AN-L), so they'll last a really really long time without a failure  :D .

Clear coat?

You should see the caps on emacs.

Covered in a ton of hot glue

Clear coat spraypaint from when I had to use the poor thing in a workshop environment. All of that white shit was CLEAR, but so much layered on it turned white. You should see the rear intake fan, OMG. The thing is quiet, but man. It's sad because a can exploded by it and covered the fan.

I got some fairly old stuff from a friend's dad.

Two mobos with Core2 quads and an unknown AMD cpu from around the same time..

He also offered to give me a bunch of old gpus and some 256mb DDR sticks but I only needed DDR2..

Recently I found a mouse without a scroll wheel which was fairly amusing.. Its about 10 years old.

Any of this considered old or retro?
