I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

I think Mayweather. I think it's quite obvious, especially if it's against someone who doesn't box.

MMA fighters may not box in a traditional sense. But i think McGregor has a shot if he tightens up his guard.

He has a bit of a tendency to drop his guard. But if he keeps it up i think he could pull this off.

Where is that? Rockauto sells head gaskets for only 30.

plz dont put a $30 head gasket on your car

fel-pro usually makes kits with nice MLS gaskets (that's what I used when I did mine.. on my last engine (lol)). I really liked it though and I think I remember @vetali saying he liked it in the pics too...I believe it was like $140 for the entire kit and came with like all but one gasket or one of them I didn't like (most likely the thermostat gasket... I hate the paper one's for water stuff... they never work for me lol). But anyway it 'twas a quality job all said and done and since I did the timing belt and WP too (and I replaced the radiator) it came out to a little under $500.

I was supposed to move a lot of that stuff over to the new engine but we ended up just not doing that because Mr. Keith had to leave for vacation the following week and we were running out of time.... so in a year or two ill have to go and do timing belt and water pump again :/ at least since I've done it once I have it pretty much memorized and could probably do it pretty quickly now... only annoying thing really is the water pump gasket to the outlet tube.. oh and the O-ring for that tube as well. just kinda tight right there is all so it makes it a little pain.

... but im gonna wait till it fails bottom line... unless investments go way better than I think they will lol

Actually, the fel-pro head gasket was the 30 dollar gasket on rockauto. And the entire gasket kit was like 80 bucks on the same site for the intake/exhaust manifold gasket, thermostat gaskets, head gasket, that sorta kit.

guess it's just cheaper for the protege. I'd just make sure it's a MLS gasket.

I haven't read anything except that one post.. you going the DIY-route? just keep in mind the rest of that engine has some miles... would stink to do all that work and something else fail completely a year later like what happened to me.

make sure you get new head bolts... or studs. OEM is one-use only!

I've got one Fel Pro's intake gasket kits on the s10. They make real nice stuff. It came with every gasket you need between opening the hood and taking the intake manifold off. Was only like $160 for the kit IIRC?

I'm pretty happy with their valve cover kit too, although it would've been nice if they had a kit that included all the intake gaskets too since they all need to be replaced when the intake manifold is pulled.

Uh, no. Those are separate. But those are an extra 20 for the fel-pro, bringing the entire kit to only 100.

IDK if going the DIY route is best because a shop can determine if the block/head are still good, though labor and parts can get expensive easily. But really I might just end up providing parts for it. I'm really convincing my dad have a shop handle it because I don't want to screw it up more than it already has.

and yeah, i guess i have to replace them since rock-auto says replacement is required.

as much as a shop is going to charge you for this job... I'd get rid of the car.

To me this whole situation is DIY and get it done without much financial harm. Or get rid of the car (part out and sell the frame for scrap(risky if there isn't enough buyers) OR sell the whole thing to someone) and get something else. It's just too worthless of a car to invest too much money into IMO

Well, i'm stubborn, so it's very unlikely we're getting rid of this car. and i feel like my dad might do whatever to get this car running again. it's really up to him, he's the one who primarily drives this. but i still wanna keep it because i still need to learn how to drive stick.

I would bail, but i keep saying over, and over, the sentimental value is just through the roof. i've grown up with this car, this car was how i found a love for cars, and when I was younger, I thought this was such a cool car, and I still think it is. I would actually kinda get pretty darn emotional if I have to see the day where our protege isn't at home anymore.

I think I might just do that tomorrow when we diagnose this car a bit further. I'm sure my dad knows the monetary and sentimental value of this car, but of course we neeed everybody's opinion on this car. But then that means we're one car short, so no car for me for a while.
