Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Apparently a diesel X-Type would 'destroy' our Mini in a race.

A <130hp Diesel saloon vs a 210hp remapped Cooper S.

The snap oversteer is really only a big issue on the first couple years of the second gen. Snap oversteer is  really going to happen on any rear/mid engined car to a certain extent.

it's a really useful tool to record things. I created it a while ago, and have been slowly updating it when i remember.

also, should i put synthetic oil in the accord? i've been using quicker state stuff since i got it, but since it's a higher mileage car, I don't really want to have leaking issues.

The leak issues are pretty well overstated. Synthetic oil is better in virtually every way.

I think engineering explained has a video about it, Indeed!

Hey, if it leaks, that means you have a problem and you'll be able to spot the problem early on and you can run conventional and just save money until you can fix it :D

synthetic is is simply a better oil all around. And with how cheap you can get it for these days (except at those rip off 5 minute oil change shops that charge $100 for synthetic -_-) you should go with it no matter what you have.

I just run Mobil 1 in my Miata. I've had good luck with their "European" 0w-40 in many cars. (It's more like a 30 weight, just a little heavier, most people say it's not quite a 40 weight)

Look for used oil analyses from other people who have the same car as you for different oils that you can buy locally cheap.

Thats the best way to go about it imo.

+1 on Walmart. Go there for my Mobil 1! That's like the only thing I shop at Walmart for xD I buy the wix rebranded filters from Rockauto in bulk because they are dirt cheap

eve. With taxes, since my Miata takes under 4 quarts, each oil change I do only costs me around ~$25
