Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Urgh.. I need a bigger engine.. sub 2.3l engines just don't do it for me

Thought you were talking about the newer 2.0l, but can be applied to most Mazda engines. They aren't that strong. I'm scared to rev mine out compared to a honda or something.

Mine's done nearly 250K and still going strong. My dad almost NEVER revs it above 4.5k rpm.

Are you referring to your VW? You can always trade it up or swap it.

Speaking of displacement, Sonny Leonard Racing builds 1006 cubic inch V8s (16.5 liter). That's plenty big for a car engine (you'd have to go for a truck motor if you wanna go bigger). They make 2150hp naturally aspirated.

You gonna find a Suburban with the 454 Big Block in it? That's that I wanna get for my next rig.

Anything bigger than 2l would be nice..

Haven't found a car i'd like to trade it in for yet. (And i have to do it at the same dealership as i bought it from)

suddenly I feel like I shouldn't get a protege. I probably redline my car once a week minimum....

Apparantly they used both lucas parts and bosch parts on 08 - 10 golfs

So i got two sets and i'll have to return the one that doesn't fit.

I could've taken the wheels off and checked which ones it needed before i left. But i've never had to do that on any of my cars before. So i did not think of thiss.

Oh well. At least they had promeister brakes for it <3

Edit : And yes. even the fucking PADS where different

Speaking of Volkswagen, they are to recall all 11 million affected cars as part of a "comprehensive recall and refit plan." The move is to cost VAG at most $6.5 billion, and involves all vehicles with the type EA189 engine - 11 million VWs, 2 million Audis, 1.2 million Skodas, 700,000 Seats and 1.5 million light commercial vehicles. Of that group, only 500,000 VWs and 13,000 Audis made it to the USA.

Dieselgate has also delayed the release of several new diesel vehicles due to increased EPA scrutiny, including but not limited to the Chevrolet Colorado.

I mean, don't get me wrong, they're terrific cars that could last you a lifetime if treated right, but yeah, i think the engine is the weakest point in the car.

Nissan does the same thing for some of their high volume models. They go with two (or more) suppliers. I had a hard time looking for a master cylinder before because most shops just stock the more common Tokico brake system for the car model that I had.

A motorcycle fender for the covered SV650, then a lot on the R5C-350 in the right corner. (That engine is on the bench lol)

Same bike as Linus I see. :) Friend of mine had a VS650 a few years back. Let me take it for a spin one time. Fun bike. :)

2004, I bought it in 2006 with 1200 on the clock.

Linus has the "S" version which has a fairing on it, mine is a standard without the body work. It's quickly becoming a dedicated track bike though. I really need to cough up the dough for a new street bike.

i kinda want that now, would be really freaking messy with the sand but i still kinda want it

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

They've had the same problem since 2003. Can't believe they can't fix it even after all these years.

It's an awesome game. You won't regret it, especially if you use a racing wheel. ;)

Feel free to add me on steam (MECZero) always looking for more people to race. :)

So I did something REALLY stupid yesterday. My Golf was on empty so I stopped at the nearby gas station and filled it up... with regular 87. *quadruple facepalm*

It's the 1.8T which requires 91. Yeah, now it pulls timing so hard to prevent detonation under moderate acceleration that it stutters. Will just have to drive it gently for the next 600kms +/- until I can fill it up again with the right stuff. :P

I feel like such an idiot. lol. Ashamed to call myself a car enthusiast right now.

It'll be alright. The ECU does a great job of compensating to save the engine. ;)
